PC's 2009/2010 Europe Futbol Plays ENTIRE SEASON THREAD
Fellas, the season starts this Sunday in the English Premier League with a huge match between Chelsea and Manchester United. I will list all my plays and running totals here. I will be releasing these on ballinnpicks.com as well but don't know how the clients will take to it. I know GP has some futbollers so I invite all of you to post your futbol plays. ESPN will be covering 47 games this year in the EPL on their channels and I hope your excited about that if you don't have FSC and you get to watch some quality futbol.
Sunday 8/9
English Community Shield
Manchester United vs. Chelsea
10:00 AM EST
Neutral field at Wembley Stadium
This game is always a match between the top two teams from the season before. Last year it was a 0-0 draw that went to penalty kicks. I've watched this game four years running and I can tell you this...most players are not fit, the scoring is usually low, and we see some disorganized play as the teams struggle to get the new lineups to jell cohesively.
Looking at United, they lost all offense stud Christiano Ronaldo who signed with Real Madrid. They lost Carlos Tevez in a move to rival Manchester City (which I'm stoked about.) The new look United front will have Berbatov and Rooney up front (which didn't work last year) and Michael Owen as an attacking midfielder. Normally, this would be plenty of offense to get the over, but not when your playing Chelsea and the big blue wall of defense. Chelsea remains relatively unchanged except for new skipper Anciotti who comes over from Italy.
I'm tellin ya fellas, I think the under is a solid play. Chelsea will unveil the diamond formation and United still has not announced their starting squad. You will see some sloppy passing and a key element of this is John Terry, who stayed at Chelsea after immense pressure from Man City to sign with them in the off season. Let's not forget United's starting keeper, Edwin VanDerSaar is out for 8 weeks as he hurt his finger during training camp. For all these reasons I like the under. United still has Rio Ferdinand, in my opinion, one of the top 3 defenders in the world. Chelsea still plays boring futbol and will bunker in with counter attacks. United is very familiar with Chelsea's top goal scorers and guys like Drogba are going to have a hard time especially with Ferdinand marking him. I'm rollin the under and Chelsea.
2** on Chelsea/United under 2 1/2 -160
1* on Chelsea to win in 90 minutes a tie is a push +145
GL fellas..can't wait for the season to start. the following weekend has a full slate of EPL games. Let's get crackin!
