GABRIEL “NAPAO” GONZAGA vs. FABRICIO WERDUM

Tickets Go on Sale Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 10am GMT

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – Hawaiian superstar BJ Penn has waited six years for another shot at the lightweight title that eluded him in 2002. On January 19, 2008, at the Metro Arena in Newcastle, England, “The Prodigy” finally gets his chance for redemption when he challenges Joe “Daddy” Stevenson for the Interim World Lightweight Championship at UFC 80: RAPID FIRE. Also featured on this star-studded card, which was made official today by the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) organization, is a heavyweight showdown between top contenders Gabriel “Napao” Gonzaga and Fabricio Werdum.

“BJ Penn and Joe Stevenson are two of the top lightweights in the world,” said Dana White, UFC President. “Penn is the former world welterweight champion and Stevenson is unbeaten in the UFC as a lightweight. Both of these guys are known for their ground games and their will to win, so not only will it be a great fight, but the winner will become the interim world lightweight champion.”

Not the best of odds as I like most of the favorites. BJ Penn, the Hilo Assassin is my favorite fighter and I'll never bet against him. He should beat Stevenson unless it goes 5 rounds and then I question his conditioning. Remember, BJ used to surf the week before his fights, so he's always phenomenal the first 2 rounds and then gasses. I don't think that's the case this time out though...so for the main event, if your willing to lay the heavy timber, don't be scared of BJ. I predict a 1'st round victory but we'll see.

ANyways, you know the spiel, bet it I like I lay it out and it will be hard to lose money. (I did get hit on the last UFC though but it was a hell of a run before that)

    Let's roll:

    Agree Jimmy,

I like Lambert to win in convincing fashion. His win against Babalou was no joke and the man is one tough former SBPD officer. I'm a big fan and I think he will give Gouveia a whipping on the ground and pound. More of a dominant wrestler with strong Jujitsu (He's an instructor for the San Bernadino Police department combat teams). Gouveia is a game fighter, but I don't think he can beat lambert. I would have lined it the other way, and that's what is keeping me from making this a best bet.

ROLL WITH ME ON JASON LAMBERT +115

    1.5 units to win 1.7

Just because I'm trying to make money. I will not lay timber on -200 on almost any sport. These lines are all heavy favorites but I am betting this exactly as posted counting on one or two dogs to hit be in the positive.

    Each for 1 unit:

Colin Robinson +280 over Antoni Hardonock

Jess Lauedin +260 over Marcus Davis

Jorge Rivera +265 over Kendall Grove

    Now for my best bet:

I like James lee as a slight dog over "Legionares". Other than his tats, Sakara is not impressive. This Italian fighter is just like Mussolini, he puts on a good show but when the fight comes he runs. I'm tellin ya, Sakara shouldn't even be in the UFC but his style and personality have kept him around./ HIs only two wins in the UFC are against no names and he got flat beat up in losses to McFreides, Alexander, and Lister.

2.0 units to win 2.1 units on James Lee as my best bet of the night. Bet it early because it's a prelim bout and will be off the board by 12:00PM CST.

    Hey PC,

I like your picks. You are the man when it comes to overall winnings for UFC events. So I think I am going to try it out today. I actually woke up in time. ha ha

I am definately going to hit up Jorge Rivera +275. That's just too much money to go to waste. Both guys are coming off losses. The only thing that scares me is how bad Rivera got KOed last time. His jaw was completely reconstructed. But he needs this win bad. He just had a baby. And he needs this contract. But Grove is in need of a win too. But Rivera is worth alot more money here. So I am hitting it with 1 unit. I am also going to put a unit on Penn and Gonzaga too. I hate Penn. But the guy is the best at 155. There is no doubt about that. He looks in mean shape too!

Remember too we have an ultimate fight night coming up in 4 days too. And there are some great fights there with some pretty good odds. But lets win some today!!

    Good Luck PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.....Did you guys see the line for UFC in Montreal?

    George St. Pierre -450

    Matt Serra +370

April 19'th in Montreal....maybe I can talk Takis or MC or the Detective (AKA..sherlock) into hooking up and catching the fights.

Thanks Oak...GL today...I just hope Jorge Rivera isn't washed up. That fight with Stevenson was an absolute beating. But I wonder if Kendall Grove is one of the weaker TUF fighters to make it to the show. UC and I both like Werdum too but I'm throwing just how I got it.

and lastly, I'm getting a little sick of UFC's in England. Bring em to Florida for God's sake$$$$

I agree on the UFC in England. We have to stay off the sites so we don't see who wins before they air it here. At least my cable company only has it available tonight. Which is bullshit! I want to watch it live. But I am going to a winghouse tonight. I will be able to watch that and Jones/Trinidad too.

I am curious about Jorge too. I wonder if his chin can take a punch like last time. And Grove has a big time reach advantage. He better watch Grove's clinch. He will mess him up pretty bad. Should be a very good card though.

Werdum already has a win over Gonzaga. So it won't be an upset if he beats him again. But I think Gonzaga has gotten alot better since then. He is tough and proved that against Randy. Should be interesting!

    Good Luck!

Hey PC..I was an ass and just saw the results on sherdog. I always do that. I am going to watch the fights tonight with my brother anyways. But I always look at the results first like a chicken. ha ha You can post all you want. Just put a warning there for anyone that hasn't seen them and will watch tonight. How did you do betting wise though. I have to go look. I know I put a little down on Gonzaga and lost that. You were right about Werdum. Good call. I see you were right about Jorge too. And penn is just nasty at 155. But I sure hate him! ha ha
