Poker Hand - Everyones opinion needed

0
votes

Everyone, I really need your opinion on this particular hand in TX No Limit Poker. I am in a disagreement with some else on a particular hand, and your judgment would be greatly appreciated. The more responses the better.

Player 1 has a Jack and a 3.

Player 2 has a Jack and a 4.

The board has Jack, Queen, 10, 5, and 2.

Who wins this hand?

I say it is a tie: Both players use Jack, Jack, Queen, Ten, and Five (the five is greater than the 3 and 4).

The opposition says player 2 wins because he has a higher kicker (4 over a 3) and it does not matter what the other 3 cards are.

What is your opinion? And is it true that "it does not matter what the other 3 cards are"? I know I am right, I need your backup!

Any opinion, Takis, PC, others?

Thanks for the backup, guys. It really is Basic Poker 101, and no, the guy doesn't know how to play. I told him where to shove his cheat sheet. At our game, 3 people told him he was wrong and 3 days later he was still fuming and used the word "cheated."

He's a member of this site so what better way to prove him wrong but to get our fellow members' opinions.
