Playing GW (-4’). UR just doesn’t play defense this year, giving up 73 ppg while GW is 11th in the country in scoring with 83 ppg. UR is also giving up a woeful 42% on 3-pointers (just gave up 11 at Xavier on Wed) while GW drains them at a 41% clip (top 20 in country). If GW wants to go inside, where they outscored La Salle 50-18 in the paint their last game, they are +5 on the boards (+11 A-10) while UR is –3.5 (-8 A-10….just got out-rebounded by a physical Xavier team 36-25). If that’s still not enough, GW forces 19 TO’s a game and is 4th in the country with 11.3 spg; UR’s guard rotation is a sophomore and two freshmen. UR has had success vs GW, but that’s when they played defense. Also, UR’s last game vs Xavier, announcers were saying UR was giving very little effort. I think GW will be focused to pound their A-10 rival (Hobbs wouldn’t even let Pops do an interview for the paper, wants to keep team focused) and if they build a lead, UR may even quit. Will only play this normal since GW is on the road.
