What does a No. 1 ranking in team defense mean come playoff time? Though most such teams reach the postseason, few get to the Super Bowl. Of the last 10 teams to lead the NFL in total defense, the only two to reach the Super Bowl were the 1996 Packers and 2002 Buccaneers. Both teams won.
