PC Bowl Picks for the rest of the Bowl season:
K State vs. Arkansas (January 6'th)
I am taking K State in this one. Arkansas is a huge favorite and in my bowl pool, almost everyone is on them. Both of these teams beat A and M, both barely won. I live in SEC land and while the public believes the SEC is the best football conference, I only think this at the top of the conference. The bottom feeders aren't that good. Arkansas is a quality team but they are going to have big matchup problems with the talented QB from Aggieville, Collin Klein. He's rushed for over a 1000 and throws a good ball too. K State's defense allowed them to beat Baylor. My point on this is that they will keep the Aggies in the game in a shoot out. And I firmly believe this game will be a shoot out. I'm taking both side and total and hoping for a K State upset.

Florida vs. Ohio State (Monday January 2nd)
I hate both teams, with a passion. But I am taking Ohio State both ML and with the points. The Buckeyes have a better defense, they can get more done on offense, and they have more to play for. Florida flat out sucks, there is just no other way to put it. Look at the comparable offensive outputs against opponents this year:

And Florida:
2011 Schedule | Buy Florida Tickets |
Date | Opponent | Time/Result |
Sep 3 | Fla. Atlantic | Won 41-3 |
Sep 10 | UAB | Won 39-0 |
Sep 17 | Tennessee | Won 33-23 |
Sep 24 | @Kentucky | Won 48-10 |
Oct 1 | Alabama | Lost 10-38 |

Oct 15 | @Auburn | Lost 6-17 |
Oct 29 | Georgia | Lost 20-24 |

Nov 12 | @South Carolina | Lost 12-17 |
Nov 19 | Furman | Won 54-32 |
Nov 26 | Florida St. | Lost 7-21 |
I look at these schedules and I see that when playing a good defense, the edge goes to Ohio State. Both teams have gaudy bowl records, but I'm taking Ohio State. Brantley is terrible and is missing his starting blind side tackle Matt Patchen. In addition, you would think Florida would have the home field advantage, but have only sold 8000 of their 15000 ticket allotment. Ohio State, will be there in droves. Buckeyes for me.

Stanford vs. Oklahoma State (Monday January 2nd)
I ask you this, if Bama beats LSU and Okie State beats Stanford convincingly, is there an argument for a split national champion? Well, Okie State and Pat Gundy has raised the question and it leads me to believe that the Cowboys are going to come out firing. Let's not forget the loss for Okie at Iowa State was after a huge tragedy, the game should not have been played or postponed to a later date. I watched that game and Okie State was clearly not mentally in the game. I don't see any way that Stanford can stop Blackmon, Wheeden, and the talented backs of Okie State. I agree, Stanford will be hard to stop, but in this shoot out, Okie State has the better offense and the better defense. Remember that Okie State is also one of the best teams in the country in forcing turnovers and I think that the Cowboys are going to be very motivated to make a huge statement this game. I'm all over the Cowboys.

SMU vs. Pittsburgh (right here in good ole Birmingham, AL) Saturday Jan 7'th
First and foremost, if I have to come out of the stands to make a tackle or two to insure my play wins, believe I will make it happen! I'm taking the under in this game. While SMU has been known to put up points every now and then, I see this game as being a defensive struggle with run first offenses. The weather in Bham is nice right now, but it's going to be cold when this game goes off. Weather is going to drop 30 degrees and there will be no one at the game. Pitt's offense is predicated on a balanced, methodical attack and there defense did well in the Big East. SMU's schedule was very weak and I think this game will turn into one of the worst of the bowl season in terms of excitement. Both teams average about 25 points a game scored but they are going to be very rusty going into this game with a full month layoff. I'm thinking a 21-17 kind of game.

The National Championship Monday January 9'th
LSU, LSU, LSU! Bama is talented, but there is just no way that AJ can throw the ball to beat the secondary of LSU. With that being said, the QB tandem of LSU will have very little luck against Bama's vaunted defense. I really don't understand the total of 40 1/2 and don't think it will come close to approaching that. I look at this game and I feel that Les Miles will have his first undefated season and that the BCS will have a clear national champion, it almost always works out that way. With the game being in New Orleans, LSU should have the home crowd as well. Again, this game will be like the first matchup in Tuscaloosa, loads of defense with big plays by defenses deciding the outcome. I have to back LSU, I think their defense is better, I think their special teams are better, and I think the only advantage that Bama has is their tight end Smelley. I am taking LSU and the under to finish the college season.
PC 4.5***** on LSU +1

Opinions:
I like Arkansas State to cover over NIU
I like Oregon to go over with Wisky
I like both West Virginia and V Tech as dogs.
Good luck fellas, enjoy the bowl games.
