PC College hoops 2011-2012
All season long, I will be right here. I got 3 tonight, for small units as the season gets started:
Richmond +6 over Davidson. I think the Spiders are always ready to start the season and have impressed me in early season trends. Darius Garrett is a legit big man and should use his experience to keep this number close. Davidson has a very young team with no senior leadership. I look for Darius Garrett and newcomer Kendall Anthony to get us just enough to dominate a young but explosive Davidson team. The first 5 minutes will settle this game.
PC 2** on Richmond +6
Northern Iowa +10 1/2 @ St Mary's
Sure the Gaels are always a force out of the WCC and I expect them and the Zags to battle it out this year for the title, but don't count out the valley in pivotal "bracket buster" type games. UNI's deliberate slow play is always a mainstay for the Panthers. Johnny Moran is a legit 3 point bomber and this senior shooting guard is great in helping that slow pace of play. The Gaels are used to running and this is a bad matchup for them. UNI held ODU to 46 points in a 17 point win to start the season. St. Mary's has loads of talent but I just can't give up 10 points to ANYONE with Northern Iowa's style of play.
PC 2 ** on Northern Iowa +10 1/2
USC -2 over Nebraska
USC is another team that loves to play defense as does Doc Sadler's team from Lincoln. Nebraska always has a terrible time in these early games and travelling to the West coast for a very late start against the Trojans spells trouble. I thought the line would be around 8 but I'm going to take the 2 and run. While USC doesn't have a lot of talent returning, they should have more ability with their incoming players. I don't know where the scoring will come from with Nebraska, they have some decent players but against a defensive team like USC, i don't see it happening.
PC 2.5++ on USC -2
Wash State vs Gonzaga
Real simple, Zags like to run, Wash State can play slow ball. It's early, should be a blowout but I'm going to take the under for 1 unit. Not a lot of logic, I'm going on trends on this one.
PC 1+ on Wash State/Zags under 141
GL..welcome back hoops. I will be on this thread all year. Was out of town for LSU/Bama and then Miami/FSU, back in the saddle and no opinion on the NFL game tonight. Hit em straight players.

All right, let's get back at it.
Wash St -1 1/2 over Oklahoma tomorrow. Cougars looked great in beating a tough Portland team at Portland and I think OU is in serious rebuilding mode. This line has been moving all night and I wish I would have hopped it when WSU was a dog.

Not a good start in college hoops but that will turn around:
I'm taking St. Louis today -5 over Oklahoma. The Billikens under Rick majerus have been amazing and they are one of the most underrated teams in the country. Oklahoma has overachieved to start the season with Lon Kruger now running the Sooners, but I think we have to back St. Louis in this spot based on how well they have played.
PC 3** on Stlouis -5
I'm taking Valley surprise Indiana State -1 over Fairfield. I didn't know this but I do now, but Indy State is loaded with returning talent and they are playing very well. Fairfield is a decent team but I've watched 3 Indy state games so far, two of Fairfields and I think the slow pace of play will benefit the Sycamores and give them the win. Too much senior leadership on this team to let it get away.

Tonight I have a small 1.5** play on over 157 in Tenn@ Oakland. I know I'm posting late but we still have time to get down on it. Both teams run well and I've watched Oakland the past few years. They go off in about 30 minutes.
TN is averaging 83 points a game in this early season and Oakland is averaging 73 but they should be much higher. They have played traditionally slow teams in Alabama (3rd in the country in points allowed) and Grambling State which run slow against D-1 opposition. The over is the play.

Tuesday night:
I'm taking it now, line might move against me but I feel good about it now.
Roll with me on Houston -1 1/2 at home against LSU. The Tigers are garbage, year in year out in hoops. There schedule this year does not impress me. LSU has lost to Coastal Carolina, Northwestern, and South Alabama while racking up wins against Western Kentucky, Nichols State, and Georgia Tech.
Houston on the other hand has beaten Arkansas, and lost by two points to the same Oakland team we rolled on tonight, and a heartbreaker in OT to TCU. I think both Oakland and TCU will be in the NCAA's along with Arkansas.
Houston at home against an LSU team that is not very good on the road and has trouble finishing spells a surprising win for Houston for me. I don't think LSU can keep up with the Cougars who are averaging over 80 points a game. Let's get after the Cougars to take it to LSU on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM CST.

George Washington @ Kansas State
The cats have lost a lot over the last two years. From Beasley, to Cullen, to fear the beard. They really don't have a lot of talent on the floor except for what's under the basket which is not a bad place for GWU to contend. I'm not posting a huge write up but I think GWU will give K State a game in Bramlage tonight.

Adding one more:
Georgetown @ Alabama:
When this line opened the total was 127 and everyone hopped the over bumping it all the way up to 133 1/2. It's now on it's way back down and I took that mofo at 133 under and will advise you to take it as it heads back down. T Town is pumped for the BASKETBALL game (yeah I said it) and Bama's defense is downright nasty, I mean one of the best in the country. Watch the sellout tonight at the coliseum and watch the great defense. I like the side too and will post on Bama, 1H and total, but let's look at the numbers.
:**Bama is allowing 52.9 points a game this year.
**Gtown is allowing 62.2 points a game this year.
**Gtown went against my Jayhawks and held KU to 67 in a losing effort that they scored 63. That game went under by 19 points.
**Gtown and Memphis had a barn burner, but Memphis is so overrated it's not even funny and that game went to OT to add 23 points in the extra frame.
I have bought into Bama's defense and it is something fun to watch if your a former hoopster. It's a great attack and they slow the ball down. Gtown is thin on the bench and if they have any chance in this game, it's going to be by keeping the score low. I can't see Georgetown trying to run against this team and if they do, ask them how it worked out for Oakland, a run and gun team I obviously love (played on them twice this year). Here's my card on this game with the rarest of rare for me. a 3pack on this game:
1.5 on under 61 1st half
2.5 on under 132 for the game
1.5 on Bama -7 in the game.
My complete card tonight:
Oakland -14 1.5**
George Washington +11 2**
Bama 1H under 61 1.5*
Bama under 132 2.5**
Bama -7 1.5**

Saturday hoops:
Pittsburgh @ Tennessee:
The Vols always play well at home and take down ranked opposition. There's a huge key to this game for me and it lies with Pitt. Their starting point guard Tray Woodall is out on injury and the backup Ashton Gibbs, has a bum ankle. For anyone that watched (and rode the over with me) on the Oakland/TN game, you know Tennessee pushes the ball and their guards are slashers to the basket. Pitt is going to have serious trouble defending the perimeter and the speed of TN. Also, I think TN learned a lot about their loss at Oakland, and they will adjust to a good perimeter shooting team like Pittsburgh. If their coach is worth a lick, they will go to a zone and not allow Pitt to shoot from the perimeter. Let's not forget TN won this game as a 5 point dog last year @ Pittsburgh. Coming off a tough loss at Oakland, I like TN to win this game outright.
PC 2.5** on TN ML -105
Texas @ UCLA
This one's for you Ricky! Texas had to reload this year after losing a ton of talent to the draft. With that being said, I still think they are the better team against the Bruins today. UCLA was terrible in Maui, I watched their loss to Kansas and another game. They don't have a go to scorer, they don't play defense like a Howland team should, and Texas has the athletes to win this one. I'm taking Texas to get it done and show the Pac 12 that the Big XII is still superior in this ACC/Big XII challenge.

Two more tonight:
I'm taking Rick Majerus's St. Louis Billikens on the under tonight. They play a great defensive game and run 1/2 court sets. This team has been solid. I've watched Portland twice this season and they don't have go to scorers. With the great defense, I'm anticipating Portland having trouble scoring and then in the 2nd half, we should see both teams not shoot well as Rick brings in the 2nd team. St. Louis is allowing 57.1 points a game and Portland has a high offensive game points average, but it's against patsies.
PC 2** on under 131
Indiana State at Boise:
The Sycamores have really been playing well and have a senior laden team with lots of experience. Boise is a good team but I think Indiana State is going to contend the whole game. They play good defense, and so does Boise. The total is a very high 138 for two teams who allow under 62 a game. (Boise 61.1 and Indy state at 59.5). The line hasn't moved as their is not a lot of action on this one. We have to take this under.

Aaarggghhh! I think some of you might have hit the under in Indiana State, I booked it early and the line closed at 139 1/2. In fact, all 4 I posted the line moved against me but it's all good.
2-2 yesterday -2.5 units
10-10 ATS -4.7 units
I have 4 today:
Baylor @ Northwestern:
The Bears are solid, I have a prop on them to win the whole thing at 22:1. Anyways, with that being said, it looks like the classic trap game today @ Northwestern. Baylor will find out today if there team is what I thought they were (Thanks Dennis Green). They have loads of talent and on paper, should be able to play with anyone in the country. This road game is their first real test against quality opposition on the road. I'm going small since it smells like a classic trap.
PC 1.5* on Baylor +3
Battle of Nebraska:
I almost always hit this game and have been to it live many times. My Mo Valley Creighton BlueJays take on a spirited Doc Sadler led Nebraska Cornhuskers team. There are all kinds of stats to throw out on this game. Creighton is 8-1 SU, the total has gone under 5 out of the last 6, I'm just going to keep it short and sweet.
PC 2.5** on under 63 1/2 1st Half
PC 2** on under 135 1/2 for the game
UNLV @ Wichita State
The Shockers are always tough at home but this is a step up in class with the Runnin Rebels. I will back the road team to beat WSU at home. UNLV is a solid 5-1 ATS while the Shockers are 1-4 ATS. UNLV is averaging 92 points a game on the road which tells me this team can fill it up wherever they go. That's bad for WSU in this early season as they don't have that usual defense I expect out of them game. If this game turns into a track meet, which I think it will, that should spell a UNLV win/cover for us.

The Panthers won @ ISU as a 5 1/2 point dog, they now get a chance to own the state of Iowa with a win over the hawkeyes. Iowa is pathetic. A very good Creighton team came into their house and beat them by 20++++. UNI is very close to Creighton in terms of ability. They shoot great 3's, have great defense, and will be very tough to beat at home. This line opened at 7 1/2 and keeps moving upward, let's hop it now.

Wednesday's Play:
Oklahoma State travels to MO state for a game that I think has a very wrong total. I know both teams and have watched them for years. Okie state likes to light up the 3 and will run almost with anyone. They slowed down against Tulsa but overall, they are averaging over 70 points a game on the road. MO state used to be THEE run and gun team in the Valley, but so far this year, that hasn't been the case. With that being said, they are averaging over 70 a game at home. The total is low because both teams have had some games that went way under. This isn't going to happen Wednesday night. I'm posting this on Tuesday because I fully expect the total to go up. I'm taking the over for a number of reasons:
**Last year this game reached 154 in Stillwater.
**Okie State has launched 147 3 pointers this year. Expect the high amount to continue in Missouri.
**Mo State wants to avenge last year's loss and I expect they might catch Okie State sleeping as the Cowboys get ready for a big game against Pittsburgh later in the week. I see a strong start by MO state and hopefully they bang their 3's forcinig Okie State to push tempo and run and gun to get back in it.
One thing that scares me is that both teams shoot under 68% from the charity stripe. With that being said, that could help us in the end if it's a single digit game and one team needs to foul and score to keep the game close. I think this game has a shot at OT, but again, I'm pretty sure we aren't going to need it. I think this total is going to climb overnight and tomorrow. I got it at 130 and I do expect it to escalate. I'm predicting over 140 for this game. I'm on the over fellas. Watch Markel Brown on ESPN U for this 8:00 CST tip. I think he's the future at Okie State but Keiton Page, the former Mr. Basketball of Oklahoma, should help us by draining 3's and running the point as a senior for these Cowboys. I've always believed that when you cap college hoops, the point guard is the most important position on the floor. Okie State has a senior who has been through the wars, I expect him to lead Okie State's offense and lead the cowboys to good scoring opportunities on the offensive side of the floor.

Friday night College:
Let's keep it rolling:
Wyoming @ Colorado
Just a side note, remember Fennis Dembo? A member of my all time all name team, and for that reason, I've kept tabs on Wyoming. Anyways, let's look at this game. Carlon Brown and Nate Tomlinson lead this team from the backcourt. They are both seniors and Brown leads the team with 12+ a game and Tomlinson is averaging over 9 assists. With that being said, what in the hell does Colorado have to offer? Andre Roberson is a great defensive player, and huge on the boards at over 11 a game, but cmon, this is COLORADO we are talking about. They haven't been relevant in a long time.
Now you might not know this, but the mighty Cowboys are 8-1 this year. When I looked at both team's schedules, I think Wyoming played and beat the stiffer competition. Would you believe that Wyoming is 3rd in the country allowing an amazing 49.3 points a game? That's insane, I mean literally insane. The 7'th grade team I coach puts up more points than that. Anyways, I digress...Wyoming holds opponents to 22.2% accuracy from the 3 point stripe. With the best interior player for Colorado being strong on defense and on the glass, this matchup works real well for me to support the dog. I think Wyoming, who in fairness, have won all 8 games at home this year, will surprise us tonight against Colorado.
**Wyoming has 4 guys averaging over 10 points a game, Colorado has one.
**Wyoming is a dominant defensive team with not one opponent going over 60 points...who is going to fill it up for CU?
**CU's best interior player is a defensive boarding machine, so CU has to light it up from the perimeter. Not a good idea when Wyoming is one of the best in country in 3pt % defense.
I gotta take Wyoming fellas.

Posting for Saturday morning. We are at 30-30 halftime in Wyoming this Friday night.
Creighton @ St. Joseph's:
Well, time to back the Valley again in a pivotal, mid-major, non conference matchup. Put simply, Creighton has been covering and their is not a reason to back them here. Let's look at some trends:
**Creighton is 3-0 SU in their last 3 games against St. Joseph's.
**Creighton is 3rd in the country in scoring and has been filling it up all season long.
**Creighton has been shooting an amazing 52.6% on the season and now goes against the 173'rd ranked defense in college against the Hawks.
PC...why is this game a pickem? Well, I think the linesmakers figure that the normally solid Palestra will give St. Joseph's a huge home court advantage with their crazy fans. However, with that being said, Creighton over the years is always solid against mid majors in non conference. They beat last year's elite 8 San Diego State team on the road. They beat always tough UAB in the den of thieves, they beat Big X patsy Iowa by 23 points in Iowa City. Jerry Palm has Creighton projected as a 4 seed this young season and there's good reason to think this team has all the tools to make a serious run in the tourney.
St. Joseph's has one quality win in my book but don't let names like Georgia Tech and Penn State fool you in 2 of their wins. These teams are down this year. It's a scary game with such a low line, I would give Creighton a 4 to 5 point line as a road chalk. However, with that being said, I have to back the Jays. Doug McDermott is putting up all american numbers with 23.7 points a game to go with over 9 boards a game. Creighton is shooting an amazing 45.7% from the 3 point stripe (let's remember St. Joe's 173'rd ranked defense). Antoine Young from Creighton is another legit scoring threat and this team can get points both inside and out. Big E Greg Echinique is scoring and boarding inside.
I've said earlier in these posts how important the point guard is for me. Antoine Young is a senior for the Jays and playing well. The Jays are averaging around 12 turnovers a game and that's a good number for this team when they run and gun like they do.
I have to back Creighton to keep it going. Don't know which way the line is going to move but I will roll Creighton pick em today at -110.

Finally lost one this week. Creighton shot poorly and they had way too many turnovers.
Detroit @ Bama
The Tide are licking their chops to get off the schnide and return home. Consecutive losses to Gtown at home and on the road to Dayton make this team hungry. I think they put out a great defensive effort and stay at their average of 55.7 points a game allowed defensively in shutting down Detroit.

SIU @ Western Michigan
The Salukis are not what they used to be. Western Michigan is better than people know. This valley team is young, inexperienced, and won't be contending for a few years. Western Michigan is headed the other way.

15-13 ATS +1 units (after on 0-5 ATS start, 15-8 ATS)
3-1 ATS this week, going for a 5-1 finish.
Take care players.

Let's roll:
Baylor @ BYU:
Call it a trap (again) and I'm still playing it. We won on Baylor easily as a 3 point dog on the road. Now they are catching 1 at BYU. When will the linemakers learn...this team is a legit final four team. Perry has a big game inside today @ 1:00 PMCST.
PC 2** on Baylor +1
I have a 3-4 star play on a 1st half only play but I can't get a line yet. I will post it in the morning. it goes off early, but I will have it up in plenty of time.
I will also have a seperate thread for bowl mania. Let's roll GP!

For the love of me I can't get a line on American/Georgetown! That was my big one...anyways..I found two more I'm playing.
Updated line this morning;
Baylor +3...still 2**Memphis @ Lville
8 points is way too many in this series. I nailed fading Lville last year in the tourney and I see a desperate Memphis team trying to make a statement today. In this hated rivalry, I would take 8 points either way. No way in hell do I think Lville is 8 points better than Memphis. Should be a defensive battle and I'm surprised the line is this high.

Indiana State @ Vanderbilt
I love the Commodores but as stated in this thread earlier, the Sycamores have loads of senior talent and have played tough in every game. They play a deliberate slow pace and I've watched Vandy 3 times this year. They don't run anyone out of the gym and this bodes well for the double digit dog from the valley.

Hope some of you got Memphis at 8 1/2..we were a nano second away on the tip in to cover that game but I'll take the push. Indiana State didn't even need the points...HA HA HA HA...MO VALLEY POWER!!!!

One more small one tonight..tips in 17 minutes...
Take under 70 1/2 in the first half of Oklahoma/Houston. Tight rims from what I see in shoot around and it's on a neutral court in OKC for the OKC classic. I watched both teams, I'm taking 1 unit on the under.
PC 1* on under 70 1/2 1st half
Let's roll!

Monday night hoops:
18-15-1 +4.6 units on the year
Wyoming @ Denver:
We nailed Denver as a dog and they won outright at Colorado. This 11-1 Cowboys team continues to slip under the radar. Their defense is amazing, allowing 49.4 a game. With a total of 116, I will take Wyoming on the road. If they can beat 20 win last season Colorado on the road, I have no reason to believe they can't cover 7 on the road at Denver in a game that will be played in front of nobody. The kids are on break and Wyoming is so solid defensively, I don't see them slipping in this one. Get it now, this line will go down.
Monday night: PC 3*** on Wyoming +7
I might post another, watching lines on that one but I'm hopping Wyoming Sunday night!

Got two tonight after the Xmas break. My first 4**** Game of the month.
Roll with me on Pitt to destroy Notre Dame. Sure it's a big East game, sure the Panthers are on the road, sure Notre Dame is traditionally tough at home. With all that being said, I see no reason to lay the 2 and back the Panthers. Howland's team is pissed about their home loss to a scrub and seriously, I've seen Notre Dame a few times this year. I'm tellin ya, this team is garbage. I am taking Pitt big tonight.
PC 4**** on Pitt -2
Wisconsin @ Nebraska
You look at Doc Sadler's teams and you know two things:
1.) They will play in your jock defense
2.) They hold opponents low on offense and usually do very good on the glass.
I can't lay 8 1/2 at home against Wisky, no way in hell.

got smoked last night, here's my card for today...
18-18-1 -5.3 units on the year
Indiana State @ Drake
All over the Sycamores. They are legit while Drake is rebuilding. Playing both side and total.
PC 1.5** on Indiana State -1
PC 2**on under 126 1/2
Best Bet:
Gotta take the over 144 in Creighton/Mo State. McDermott is quietly putting up all american numbers and at home, this team is one of the highest scoring in the nation. We have hit on both teams this year on overs and this one should be a slugfest.
PC 3*** on over 144
Wichita State @ Bradley
The easy play is Wichita State, but I'm taking Bradley. 12 points is way too much to give on the road against a team like Bradley at home. They are tough in the Bradley center and WSU's penchant for giving up 2nd half covers leads me to believe we roll on the Braves tonight.
PC 1.5** on Bradley +12
Sorry again for last night. Worst night for me in a long time. Get back time.

18-21-1 ATS -14.2 units on the year.
Terrible week, time to get it back.
Villanova @ Marquette
I am all over marquette early today. They got absolutely thumped at home by Vandy and today is a huge statement game for them. Nova is dreadful this year and I think they are going to get run out of the gym today. Not a huge write up, I'm just convinced that Marquette gets it done today.
PC 3*** on Marquette -10
Illinois State @ SIU
I'm taking SIU small. The Salukis aren't even close to what they were in the past. But Illinois State is not a monster this year and won't come close to their recent 20++ win season posted. I will take the home dog in the valley.

Tonight Monday 1/2:
I'm on UVA -3 over LSU. I think LSU sucks in hoops. UVA opened at -1 1/2, it's up to 3 and keeps climbing. I am playing this one strictly on line movement and from watching LSU three times this year. Don't know much about UVA, but I do know they have a decent record and some good seniors. I don't think LSU can hang with them.
PC 2** on UVA -3
A and M @ Baylor:
Big game for both teams and in-state rivalry. A and M opened the season as the #20 ranked team in the country. This is way too many points for this rivalry and Billy kennedy is a good coach, I don't think he will get blown out tonight.
PC 1.5** on A and M +13 1/2
1-1 last post, lost 1.75 units...let's roll. Time to get on a run again.

One 4**** today:
I'm all over San Diego State as a home dog against UNLV. They are going to win outright but I'm taking the points. Both teams are very well coached. Both teams only have 2 losses. This is a huge game out west but from what I've seen by both teams, I gotta roll on SDSU to win and cover easily.

nice...I got one more.
Roll with me on Murray State to cover the 11 at home against Tenn Tech. The Racers are absolutely a force and their schedule has no tough games. They will continue to roll tonight and I think they win by 20++.

Sunday Hoops:
I'm taking the under in Creighton/SIU. All the trends point to an over but I don't see it. 5 out of the last 7 have gone over in the Birdcage. SIU is 5 for 5 ats on the over on the road in their last 5 but again, I'm taking the under. McDermott and company will look to build a big lead and coast but I think SIU will go back to playing really slow basketball and keeping Creighton away from their transition game. The Jays also have trouble rebounding against physical teams and their defense is suspect. The Salukis don't have a lot of offensive weapons. All that translates into SIU slowing the game down in 1/2 court sets but not having anyone that can really score. Unless SIU gets a 25 point effort out of someone, I don't see this game going over.
PC 3*** on under 151 1/2 in Creighton SIU
(I think this game line will go down by tip, but hell, it might go up with the trends supporting an over play)
