PC NBA PLAYOFFS THREAD
Did real well last few weeks I posted on GP. Going to post the NBA playoffs which is an absolute marathon. I have 3K ready to go and will play both series plays and individuals starting this Saturday. I hope more of you post and get into it. This is going to be a great NBA playoffs with the East having a lot of street cred and the West having a lot of question marks going forward. Looking forward to it. Please feel free to post as well and let's get after it. I love the NBA playoffs and feel we are going to bank again. My goal is to double the 3K in four weeks. Let's see how it goes. My units are 100.00. Let's roll! I will post series bets on Thur/Fri after we see how the regular season finishes tonight.

Running total:
Starting Bankroll 3K...each unit is a 100.00
Series bets:
Dallas/Portland: I'm risking 1 unit to win 1.7 units on Portland to take this series. Dallas has a good team, but not a matchup I would want. They put up bulletin board material when they said they wanted the Blazers and Portland is more than happy to oblige. The Blazers play great defense and Dallas has been bounced in the first round more times than they should in the last 5 years. It's a bad matchup for Dallas too. Portland plays great defense and Aldridge should have his way inside with no true inside defender for Dallas. Will Kidd, JJB, and Terry be able to dictate pace of play and create against a solid Blazers defense? That's the key. Either way, the value is good and this is the only dog I like to win the first round. I tried talking myself into the Knicks but I just can't do it. Atlanta has the tools to match up with Orlando, but both 4/5 matchups should go to the higher seed.
Risking 100.00 to win 170.00 on Portland to advance
2 team series parley:
Boston-350/OKC-205/...risking 100.00 to win 100.00
Celts seemed banged up and lost their mojo but I'm not buying it. Doc rested the starters and doesn't care who he plays first round. I think OKC is going to make a deep run in the playoffs and Denver is playing really well, but Westbrooke/Harden/Durant is just too much offense for Denver to contend with. Celts in 6 OKC in 6.
2 team 100:100 payoff
Saturday Aril 16th
Philly vs. Miami
I'm taking the Heat to come out strong against Philly in Game 1. Miami has absolutely dominated Philly this season. Check out these stats:
2010-11 Head to Head Meetings Date Results Total 03/25/11 Philadelphia 99 @ Miami 111 (-8) OVER 196 11/26/10 Philadelphia 90 @ Miami 99 (-11) UNDER 196 10/27/10 Miami 97 (-8) @ Philadelphia 87 UNDER 192.5 Miami won by 12 and by 9 at home. Philly has not been in the playoffs in awhile and I think Lebron and Wade are going to make a statement in this game and set the tone for a long playoff run. Everyone wants the Heat to fail and they will use this to their advantage. While it's only game 1, I think the first half bet on Miami is definitely the play.
2.2 units to win 2 units on Miami -6 1H
Portland/Dallas
I am double dipping this game. As stated above, I think Portland has a chip on their shoulder from being called out by the Mavs. In addition, I think that defense is going to be solid this first game. Not a huge write up here. I like Portland to advance and think they do it with defense and controlling the ball in a slow game.
Risking 2.2 units to win 2 units on under 186 1/2
Risking 1..65 units to win 1.5 units on Portland +5

1-2 ATS yesterday, will update after today:
Spurs/Memphis: I'm rolling the under 194. Memphis is in the big show for the first time in awhile and those that follow the NBA know how well the Spurs play defense at home. I'm going to lay on the Spurs as well as I think their experience combined with Memphis's rookie status in the playoffs will make the Spurs a double digit winner. I don't know if Manu is going to play for sure but the Spurs defense should be able to handle Conley, Mayo, Gasol and company on their visit to San Antonio. Short write up today because of time and hitting the links.
PC 2** on Spurs -6 1/2
PC 2** on Spurs under 194
\New Orleans @ LA:
I'm taking the over182 1/2. Normally LA dominates this team but the scoring this year has been higher than normal in this series. With David West out, I think it forces the Hornets to go from the perimeter more. I also think Chris Paul is going to step up his offense which has been absent for the past month of the season. I again like the favorite but the way the Lake show finished the regular season worries me a little bit.

2 series plays still rolling

parlay Boston/OKC 1 unit to win 1 unit
Tonight:
I'm taking OKC to go 2-0 over the Nuggets. This team looked great in covering the number in game 1 and finished the game strong. I look at denver and see a team that plays well, but doesn't have a finisher. In addition, the Thunder play great defense when they need to and have proven scorers that can get it done. I have to take OKC to cover tonight.
PC 2** on OKC -4 1/2
Lakers/Spurs
I'm rolling under 194 for my first 3 unit play of the post season. The Spurs looked terrible defensively in Game 1 and they won't let that happen again. Memphis won game 1 convincingly from an ATS standpoint and the Spurs just have too much to let this happen again. I really believe this game won't crack 180 tonight.

Let's get after tonight:
Chicago @ Indiana
I'm taking the over. The Pacers have been in both games in this series and this is do or die. Do I think they will win the series..hell no. Do I think this game will be high octane Pacers basketball...yes. Indiana has some very capable scorers led by Danny Granger and this team puts up points at home. Their ATS doesn't show it, but look at these numbers:
**Bulls average 98.6 points a game scored.
**Pacers average 99.89 points a game scored
**3 of the last 4 games between the two has gone over 199.
Indiana has won 20 out of the last 25 games SU at home against Chicago.
I think Indiana is going to come out ballin, and I mean offensively. Chicago should be up to the task and I fully expect at least one team to go over the 100 point mark. (See parlay). I gotta roll the over.
PC 3*** on Indiana/Chicago over 190
Dallas @ Portland
I think we all expected Portland to get a split in Dallas and I layed off Game 2 for that reason. Dallas is playing like they have something to prove and tonight, I think they are going to cover this number if not win outright. I will probably lose my series play but from watching these first two games, I have to roll on Dallas. The pub is hammering on Portland and the line has moved 2 full points since I saw it posted last night. I think the oddsmakers have it right. The home team has won all six games between these two teams this year, and the games are usually very tight. In the two regular season games in Portland this year, the Blazers won by 3 and by 8. Dallas goes for the jugular tonight in what should be a high scoring affair.

PC,
Just curious where did you see the line at 3.5 for the Dal/Por game? I have been following the line for two days and only saw Por as a 5.5 to 6 point fav. (Por opened as a 5.5 point fav). And covers.com has over 65% on Dallas. Just curious where you got your info.
I agree that Dallas will win this series now, but I sure hope you are wrong tonight cause I need some W's in a real bad way.

Tonight, short write ups game tips soon.
I'm all over Boston. Sure the Knicks have been close but I have to roll the Celts to effectively slam the door. They have been here, the Knicks have not. We all know Chauncey and Amare are not 100% but I'm leaning on the experience factor. Put simply, the Celts have been here and the Knicks have not. I have to roll Boston.
PC 3*** on Boston +3 1/2
Lakers @ New Orleans:
I'm all over the Hornets. Everyone keeps expecting the Lakers to roll the Hornets and New Orleans gives them a game every night. I wouldn't be surprised if New Orleans wins outright tonight. Who is going to guard CP3? Kobe? He's ailing but still has the offensive touch. Gasol has lost his mojo and I don't think Artest and Lamar are going to spark this team to a win. Bellini and Trevor are playing the best they have all season. I'm really impressed with how well New Orleans is matching up and too many points for a home team tied 1-1. I might fade New Orleans in Game 4 depending on tonight but I really think New Orleans knows they have to win this game to win the series and they will put their best foot forward.

Jdelt, just re read your post. Bookmaker usually posts 2 days ahead, they had Portland open at 3 1/2, as for the pub %, I use the pay service on line movements at Vegasinsider that gives real time tracking on pub % and line movement. It's not the free numbers they list under matchups, it's real time #'s the LVSC pulls as the bets come in at Vegas. Hope that helps. Good luck tonight, we are opposite on both games I posted. Probably means a split.

Got 2 today:
Chicago @ Indiana: I lost on the over in Game 3 and I'm hitting it up again in Game 4. Very similar write up to Game 3. These two teams can score in Indiana and they usually soar over the number. I think we all realize this series is over but Indiana isn't just going to lay down. (At least not for the first half.) Chicago will want to go for the kill, pull out the brooms, and watch their next round opponent the Heat on Sunday. Indianapolis to Chicago is about a 2 hour drive and these two teams will have a packed arena with fans of both teams in the house. I'm not expecting another defensive struggle. Indiana is successful when they are running and I think they will use that formula to at least get a shot at winning game 4.
PC 2.5** on Indiana/Chicago over 187 1/2
San Antonio @ Memphis
Boy your going to see a lot of people on the Spurs. The #1 seed is a DOG against the 8 seed on the road? Well, for good reason. Manu is still out, and Memphis is showing they are legit and for real. Let's not forget the home team has won SU in all 4 regular season meetings. That would lead me to believe that I like Memphis, but my play is on the total. I like this game to go over the number. In the two games at Memphis this year look at the scores:
SA 104 Memphis 111
SA 93 Memphis 109
Whatever it is, Memphis seems to put up points against what is usually a good defensive team. In addition, our Game 2 winner on the under brought the total down another 3 points. I'm gunning the over.
PC 2.5** on San Antonio and Memphis over 191
OKC @ Denver
Short write up. Nugs score more points at home than they do away. The Thunder are more than willing to run with them. Nugs are NOT a shut down defense type of team and whatever way this game goes (Nugs in a blowout, OKC going for the jugular) I think the pace of play dictates an over.

Happy easter!!!!! Sorry for the 0-3 day yesterday. That will NOT happen again.
Orlando @ Atlanta:
I'm taking the Hawks in this one. The line is favoring Orlando because everyone thinks this team will even up the series 2-2. I don't buy it. ZaZa and J Rich got suspended for Game 4 and that advantage has to go to Atlanta, but not as much as you would think . The Hawks "wanted" Orlando in the playoffs and they got them. They won 3 of 4 in the regular season and play this team well. Both teams know how huge this game is. Hawks win, they are up 3-1. So, the assumption is that Orlando will even out this series with a resounding victory. Again, I just don't buy it. Atlanta has played great defense on the perimeter against the Magic's gunners and it's forcing Howard to carry the offensive load, which he has done real well. But Dwight Howard alone can not beat the Hawks and Atlanta has more scoring options right now than Orlando does. I'm taking Atlanta.
PC 2.** on Atlanta +2
Boston @ Atlanta
There's a huge stat the teams that are up 3-0 in a series are a good % to close out the series. That didn't work yesterday vs. Indy but I think it will today. I'm double dipping in this game with Boston and the over. Did anyone watch Boston in Game 3? They shot lights out. Ray Allen from the corner was sick. Pierce from the top of the key was sick. I expect more of the same today because, put simply, the Knicks just can't defend. The total is 2-1 ATS on the under, but both of those games were in TD Waterhouse. In the Garden, both teams scored above their season average. In addition, the over is 4-2 ATS in the last 6 played between these two in the Garden. Celtics and the over for me.
PC 2** on Boston -3 1/2
PC 1.5** on over 195
Might be back for the nightcap, let's see how this goes.
MLB EASTER SUNDAY:
Milwaukee/Houston under 8 1/2 -115 2**
The Brew Crew home stadium on day games is a tough place for hitters. Wandy and Wolf take the hill and after huge overs in this series, I expect a low scoring game. I'm tellin ya, if ya have MLB extra innings, check out the shadows hitting, it's tough for a 1:10 PM CST.
Arizona +125 over the mets
Gallaraga and Niese is not exactly a pitching matchup duel. However, with that being said, I think the Dbacks have much better hitters for this game. Niese does very badly against the Dbacks as evidenced by a 8.68 ERA in two career starts against this team. In addition, Niese's ERA on the season is 7.31 with an 0-3 ledger. While Gallaraga's ERA is 6.00, he is 3-0 and this team seems to back him with good hitting. I'll take Zona as the dog to win.

Dont' have time to update.
I will roll all 3 dogs tonight:
Memphis + 1 1/2...2.5** They can smell it, they are playing well, they have been one of the best ATS teams in the NBA this year. I'll take Memphis in the same spot we won on Atlanta last night.
OKC +3 2.5** Again, I quote that teams up 3-0 are a good trend bet when trying to close out a series. OKC will go for it tonight.
Portland +5 3*** Can Dallas recover from their 4'th quarter meltdown? Granted it's 2-2 in the series but time and time again in sports when a team loses a game they should win in the post season, they have a tough time coming back. Conversely, Portland is on a high and will be playing with extreme confidence.
Will update record later, went 2-1 ATS on hoops and 1-1 with a profit on MLB Easter sunday. Have a good one.

Let's roll:
Memphis @ OKC
I'm taking the Grizzlies. Some quick stats:
Memphis is 3-1 SU and ATS against the Thunder this year.
Memphis is 26-15 ATS on the road vs the Thunder 20-20 ATS home mark.
Both teams allow over 45% shooting defensively.
I'm taking the double dip with the dog and the over. And I recommend you play it tonight because I think the line will move on us. OKC closed out on the road, Memphis won at home. Both teams are high on their first round victories but Memphis has to be flying in the clouds and I don't think they will just "be happy to be in the 2nd round" I expect OKC to win this series, but I'm not betting it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Memphis wins the first game. They play much better offensively than Denver does and Denver did give OKC some fits with no real proven scorers. let's roll.
PC 3*** on Memphis +6 1/2
PC 2.5** on over 195 1/2
Boston @ Miami
I have been telling people all year the Heat are going to win the title. I said it would take until the playoffs for the Heat to play with the superstars. One thing people aren't talking about are the role players. every time I look, Joel Anthony is making big plays down the stretch. Bibby and Chalmers are a good combo to support the big guns. Boston looks old to me and the Knicks should have won at least 2 if not 3 of those games. That speaks volumes for the veteran leadership and coaching by Doc but I like Miami to advance and this is put up or shut up time for me. I'm taking the under in Game 1. Jeff Green was brought in specifically to defend LeBron in a very unpopular trade in Beantown. However, I thought it was a great move. The Heat don't have an inside game and they made the smart move in getting a proven defender to match on Lebron while giving up their young center. Game 1 is going to go either way, but I like the under in what should be a defensive battle both ways. Don't worry about the big offensive quarter in the 1st half, your going to see serious NBA post season defense in the 2nd half.
PC 3*** on under 181 1/2

yes, I'm taking the hawks. From what I saw, they have the monkey off the back and limping Rose and hurting boozer against this physical team reminds me of Orlando's upset of a finesse Cavs team a few years back. Value is way too good to pass up.

2-1 yesterday
Tonight I am on the Hawks. I think they might steal game 1 outright but I am going to play on them. It's a high line and it scares me a little bit as I have this game pegged around 4 for Chi Town. But there are reasons I like the Hawks. First and foremost, I think their interior game is much more physical and stronger than Chicago's. Horfors, Smith, Zaza and others match up well against guys like Boozer and Noah.
The guard play is strong for Atlanta. They don't have a D. Rose, but Joe Johnson can still fill it up most nights and as long as they shut down the rest of the team, I don't see Rose covering the number with just his big game. They will need points elsewhere. Deng and Boozer are outside shooters and guys like Marvin, Smith, and Horford are good defenders all over the court as evidenced by the low total of 178.
I said it once and I'll say it again. Atlanta should have a real shot in this series and this matchup so reminds me of Orlando/Cleveland a few years ago where the physical team takes it to the superstar and his finesse team. Bulls can play scrappy too, but their recent playoff failures leads me to believe that the Hawks are the play tonight, and for the series.

I'm taking the same play I took 2 nights ago. memphis and the over, but much more weight on the over. Everyone thinks OKC is going to come out balling and just absolutely crush Memphis. Well, one could argue that Memphis is playing the best post season basketball of anyone right now. They have been on fire and continue to play at a peak. OKC should win this game but I don't see them covering the number. In addition, I think this game will eclipse 210 and I'm going 3 1/2 units on it. OKC is in a must win situation and they won't get it done defensively. One thing was evident on Sunday, both teams can score in bunch's and neither played particularly great defense in Game 1. Will the defensive mind sets change? Can either team stop the opposing scorers? I gave stats on the over in the post up above on this thread. No reason to back off of it. In addition, I think the scoring will be even higher as Memphis will look to put up a number in the first half and continue where they left off.

I'm on the Hawks tonight. I will keep the write up short but here's the main points:
1.) Has Chicago really dominated Indiana or Atlanta yet in the series?
2.) Can the Bulls cover 9 with a low total like this?
3.) Are Boozer and Rose 100%
4.) Do the Bulls have an answer for Joe Johnson defensively?
I really think the Bulls are in trouble and while I expect them to win game 2, I don't expect them to cover.

OKC @ Memphis:
For me, I'm on the Grizz/ Thunder over. Quick hits:
**7-0 ATS on the over in the last 7 between the 2.
**In the last 7 games between the 2 both teams have gone over 100 in each game.
**Both teams have a penchant for a high scoring 4'th quarter. If you can play a 4th quarter total (Bookmaker has it) take the over for the quarter.
I'm playing the over and will have a side play in the parlay below.
PC 2** on Memphis/OKC over 200 1/2
Miami @ Boston
In a playoffs that continues to buck the trend, I will support both a ML and side play on Miami. Sure, Boston won 3 out of 4 during the regular season. Sure, everyone thinks Boston rebounds in Game 3 at home. But I just don't see it. Shaq is back. but who cares? The dude has played 5 minutes in 3 months, no way in hell he's in game shape. I don't think Paul is 100% on that left foot and I clearly don't think Boston is going to win this series. Miami can end it tonight and while Boston is the clear cut favorite to win the game, I'm just not buying into the Boston hype. They are old, they don't have the depth they used to (Delonte West welcome back to the post season) and they better shoot lights out against a team that plays incredible defense.

Tonight: I'm on Atlanta +9. Bulls just don't impress me and this game is do or die both ways, more so for the Bulls. We saw Atlanta bounce back against Orlando and I expect them to give a good showing tonight. Last time in Chi town they split 1-1 and were happy with that. They get the win tonight, they have a realistic shot and I think we see an inspired effort.

I'm taking the over in the dallas/OKC game tonight in Texas. While both teams can slow it down, I think we will see Dirk go wild and Russell and Kevin doing very well offensively. I don't know who can guard the superstars for each other's team. Dirk is a serious match up problem and JJB and Jason are great scorers and dishers, but their defense leaves something to be desired in my book. Some numbers:
Both teams averaged over 100 points a game in the regular season.
45-37 OKC and 46-35-1 ATS on the over for both teams this season
The total is 4-2 ATS on the over in the last 6 between the two teams.
The total is 4-1 ATS on the over in the last 5 between the two in Dallas.
The mavs have scored 122, 98, and 103 in their last 3 home games in the playoffs against better defensive teams than these Thunder players.
I'm on the over
PC 2.5** on over 194 1/2

Good night last night. Let's continue to get back on track.
I'm taking the under tonight in the Heat game. Short time window so I'll keep the write up short. My logic is this: I think Miami knows they have to play better defense (they were top 2 in the NBA this season in PPG allowed) and they have to keep the Bulls off the boards. I expect a much better defensive effort and think Chicago will also try to lock down Lebron and Dwade and force role players on both sides to score. I'm on the under.
PC 2** on under 181 1/2
MLB: (1-1 last night +1 unit)
Houston +170 1*
KC under 8 2**

2 in a row in hoops, lets keep it rollin.
I'm playing the over again in dallas. They moved the line 9 full points and I'm still not scared. I don't see how anything is going to change and that's why I'm playing dallas too but more weight on the over. I said it earlier this week and I'll say it again. Neither team has the defensive options to stop the other's stars and the role players can score, especially for Dallas. I might change my tune on the total in OKC, but as of right now, I'll take dallas a team that hasn't lost in 26 days, a team that is 7-0 in their last 7, and a team that is shooting lights out. No way this OKC team can slow them down. Stop Dirk and company, no way.

Nice night last time out. Hit the the 3 star, lost the 1.5 star, swept the baseball board.
Will update tomorrow:
3.5***** play
I'm taking OKC to mash the Mavs at home. Sure, Dallas is playing great ball but as I said in my previous write up, I"m going to change my tune in OKC. The Thunder have the best home court advantage in the NBA IMO and this team will come out firing. Sure, Dallas has the veteran leadership but I don't think they are going to be able to contend with OKC at home. The Thunder are tough at their house and the crowd is going to fire them forward tonight. Game 4 will probably be a play on the Mavs, but tonight, I'm taking the 2 1/2 and rollin the Thunder.
PC 3.5*** on OKC Thunder - 2 1/2
SOCCER ALERT:
3*** play on the Battle of LA to go over 2 1/2 -105. The huge trend here is that these two teams always score a lot in this game. They share a city, a stadium, but have very diverse backgrounds and players. The Galaxy are the Yankees of MLS with big dollar players like Donovan and Beckham. Chivas is an international squad and more blue collar and in my opinion, this is the best rivalry in MLS. I always take the over in this game and tonight I will back it again and expect 4 or more goals.
3*** on over 2 1/2 -105 (this game is on ESPN or ESPN2 at 9:00 PM CST)
