UAB v. Richmond

Just some points on tonight's game since there aren't many out there and I see some people taking this game.

UR is coming off a horrible loss at VCU last week. In that game they turned the ball over 14 times in the first half, very unlike past UR teams (UAB forces 22 TO/game and while UR's guards are fast, they are a sophomore and freshman who are out-of-control). Jermaine Bucknor (11 ppg, 7 rpg; 3rd and 1st on team) was out that game, but will be playing tonight. Also in that game, UR didn't hit a 3-pointer for the first time since 1997.

Richmond has a transfer from Washington eligible tonight (supposed to see some time) and they really like a redshirt freshman (Sandoval) who played his first game vs VCU. Plus, they have been starting a freshman too (Nelson). Basically, the chemistry isn't there; they're still trying to figure out how to put all the pieces together. They lost 4 seniors from last year, 3 of which were 1,000 points scorers. Not sure how they're gonna keep scoring with the Blazers tonight. Crowd shouldn't be much of a factor as students are on break.

A note for UAB's next game. They played in Alabama Wednesday, flew to Richmond last night, play tonight, fly to Hawaii tomorrow for a tournament. Just seems like a lot of travelling and maybe they'll be burned out for Clemson. Then again, maybe they're looking forward to Hawaii and won't be ready tonight.
