NBA Picks for Fri. Feb. 5
Hey stan, here you go. I'm back to starting the thread.
F the Spurs! That was ridiculous. How do you lose that game like they did in the fourth quarter to a team without their best player? No excuses. I usually agree with The Jet and Sir Charles, but I think they have it wrong with this team. The Spurs are going nowhere. I keep thinking they are going to turn it on and it's just not happening. They are 9-17 versus teams over .500 (including 11 losses to the Blazers, Jazz, Nuggets, and Mavs; only 1 win against these teams). You don't lose that many games to the top teams in the conference and expect to actually contend in the playoffs. See ya, bye San Antonio. Good Luck next year.

SACRAMENTO +3 (PUNCHOUT) (this is one of those plays where you say, WTF are you thinking?, and they usually win; but right now, I don't know what to think; just sticking with the dumpster!)
DETROIT +4
MEMPHIS -5
NEW ORLEANS -3

I agree with the Sacramento play...It's a head scratcher, but this is one of those games where the common gambler goes deep on the better team (Phoenix) and loses....commonly known as a "Trap". On the other hand if Phoenix covers...you chalk it up as a missed opportunity. Better just to let it go by and hope that the other team covers...so you don't so bad.
That being said ..... Chalk up New Orleans - 3.

I hear ya Jim. That's what makes betting on the NBA so frustrating. You have a clearly superior team blowing games against teams that have no business winning. They just lollygag it to the playoffs, then hope to turn it on and get to a Championship.
Wish I had been watching NCAA hoops like in previous years. Just couldn't get into it this year. Those guys try every game. because they have something to play for. NBA players get too much money for doing nothing, thus you never know what they will do from night to night. Makes it tough on us.
You sure about Detroit? they kinda suck ass this year. But then again, so does Indy, so who knows. lol

Nuggets +8
Another game where I don't think the Lakers lose the game, but they definitely don't cover the big spread.
9-7 YTD

Here's an easy winner for tomorrow night. Take Portland vs the Lakers tomorrow night. Lakers just can't get it done in Portland. You'd think they would blow out the Blazers, but they have some kind of weird stink on them when they play up there. Go BIG on the Blazers. They will be the dog, and not only will they cover, but will probably win the game.
