NBA for Mon. Feb 1

Since the line is so low, I guess I will take the bait on this one.

Lakers -1.5

In case you guys are wondering what i look at when coming up with these picks, here's the the stats and breakdown.  It's a lot to digest, but I try to be as informed as possible before putting my money down.

Memphis hasn't beat the Lakers since March, 2008.

Griz are on a 2 game losing streak, with 1 of those being at home.  While the Lakers are on a 4 game winning streak, all on the road.  Lakers are 1-2 against teams with a winning record on this trip.

 Even though this is the last game of a long 8 game road trip for the Lakers, I am looking for them to close it out with a win.  Probably win by 4 or 5 against a decent Griz team.

Trends point to the Grizz, but don't take into account the current winning and losing streaks of each team,  the size advantage of the Lakers (Bynum is showing dramatic improvement in his play the last couple games), and show data older than the games of the last 2 seasons.  Lakers are 3-1 ATS in their 4 games against the Grizz, while the ATS is split dead even over the last 8 games.

If you taker a closer look at the results of the last 7 games between these 2 teams, all of the lines have had the Lakers favored by more than 9.5 points.  In the last 10 meetings, the Lakers have been favored by more than 5.5.  Nothing close to the 1.5 on this game.

  • Under is 10-4 in LAL last 14 vs. NBA Southwest.
Memphis:
  • Over is 8-1 in MEM last 9 Mon. games.
  • MEM are 19-8-1 ATS in their last 28 home games.
  • MEM are 14-6-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
Head to Head:
  • LAL are 6-14 ATS in the last 20 meetings.
  • LAL are 4-9 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Memphis.

  1. stan,  I'm getting busted up right now, but I'm going huge against your Lakers today.  None of the big plays are coming through for me, but I have to stick to my angles that have won over time.  Therefore, I must go:

     

    MEMPHIS +2  (DESTROYER)  (this definitely is not the same Grizz team we have seen the past few years; I think they win by double digits tonight)

  2. Never thought this would happen in one day, but I have a second destroyer lined up.  It's too bad I'm ice cold right now.  I don't know what to expect.  I keep thinking my teams will somehow find a way to lose.  But here we go with the second one:

  6. i'm not sure about that Dallas pick.  Jazz are super tough at home.  I do like the Nuggets.  Kings blow, especially on the road.

     

    Kind of liking Celtics at Washington.  They probably go out and beat up the Wiz, to take out their frustration of yesterday's loss to the Lakers.  Celtics probably win this one by 20+.

  11. Stupid Lakers.  That game shouldn't have even been close.  Kobe missing 5 free throws to start it off is a bad sign.  Then the come up empty on 4 or 5 consecutive trips down the court at the end of the game, and to top it off......Artest taking the 3 at the buzzer??  what the fuck is all i have to say.

     

    congrats to all you guys on the other side.  not really, but i'm trying not to be a sore loser.  That was a gift.

     

    Hit that Celtics game, so not a total wash.  yay
