Matchup: Los Angeles-N at Colorado
Time: 8:40 PM EDT (Tue)
Listed pitchers must go: (L) MILTON, E vs. (R) COOK, A
Play: Under (10.5 -115)
Line Source: SPORTSBOOK
Posted on: May 26, 2009 @ 11:39:19 AM EDT
Roks starter Aaron Cook has Cowboy'd up in May (2.19 ERA, 1.05 WHIP) with only an 11-to-9 strikeout-to-walk ratio to be concerned about. However, the Dodgers thrive on balls in play and working the count so Cook will keep his defensive active tonight and likely record multiple double plays against the Manny, Andre Ethier (questionable) and Furcal-less Dodgers.
Colorado could be without Todd Helton (migraine/2-for-11) with LA's Eric Milton on the mound. Milton has a strong track record against Rockies hitters. Garrett Atkins, Dexter Fowler, Brad Hawpe, Ryan Spilborghs, Troy Tulowitzki and Ian Stewart have either never faced Milton or haven't reached first base safely via a hit ball. Matt Murton (7-for-17) is the only healthy Rockies who has more than two hits against Milton.
It's more than favorable, and has been extremely profitable over the course of a season to play to the UNDER when the home team's starting a pitcher has walked one hitter or less in each of his last two outings when facing an opposing pitcher working on seven or more days' rest, this when the Vegas opening total is 10 runs or more. These situations have cashed to the UNDER over 72% of the time in the last 12 MLB campaigns.
Umpire Andrew Fletcher is scheduled to be behind the plate tonight at Coors Field and his large strikezone will assist both pitchers.

Time: 10:05 PM EDT (Tue)
Play: Seattle (ML +129)
Line Source: SPORTSBOOK
Posted on: May 26, 2009 @ 11:39:19 AM EDT
Here we have two evenly matched teams with the road team actually having a slight edge but the price is certainly not saying that. Oakland has won two straight games at similar prices but that is likely where it ends as the A’s have not won more than two games in a row all season long. They have won back-to-back games on six other occasions and they have lost all six times following those consecutive victories by an average of 3.8 rpg. Oakland is only 10-12 at home so the home field is not a big advantage as can be the case for a lot of other teams in the league. Seattle started the season hot but it has cooled off considerably. A 4-13 run knocked the Mariners from first place to third place but they have picked it up a little since then by going 5-6 in their last 11 games. That is certainly nothing special but they have dropped back-to-back games only once over this span. Jarrod Washburn takes the hill for Seattle and he has been in a funk of late. The Mariners have dropped his last five starts and he has allowed six runs in two of those. However, those games came against his former team the Angels and one of his quality starts during this span happened to come against Oakland. The A’s are hitting just .208 against left-handed pitching this year and are 4-11 against left-handed starters. They counter with Dallas Braden who is putting together a good season but does not have the wins to show for it. He has a 3.67 ERA but does posses a rather high 1.44 WHIP and both of those numbers skyrocket in his four games pitched at night. The A’s are only 3-6 in his nine starts and Seattle is 10-5 on the season against left-handed starting pitchers. Oakland is 0-7 in Braden’s last seven starts as a home favorite of -110 to -150 while Seattle is 8-2 in the last 10 overall meetings in this series. 5* Seattle Mariners

Gentleman, the SuperBowl of European Football/Soccer/Futbol. I made an excuse to leave work early today and I'll be sitting at home, drinking my Guiness.
I have Man U to win it at +550, but I hedged a little for Barca at +107. Yes, I think Man U will win, but Barca is a good team and was the only team I feared for my United team in the tourney. I wish Chelsea hung on a couple weeks ago, but I would not have hedged!!!!
If you believe the rumours, Ronaldo could be on his way out of United and we're going to see a great game by the best player in the game.
I only saw two value plays. Score to end 1-1 at end of regulation +595. This game has penalties written all over it.
I'm not a fan of the O/U, but I'm also riding:
Will both Barca and Man U score in regulation? Yes -125.
Watch this game. You won't be disappointed.

The Boston Red Sox are definately having some problems in their rotation. Beckett,Matsuzaka,Lester, and Penny are all carrying ERA's over 5, and here we are at the end of May. Matsuzaka has been the worst of the bunch, entering here with a 10.32 ERA, and doesn't have any life on his fastball right now, and he is getting rocked. The Twins will counter with Kevin Slowey who has really gotten it going, he stands at 6-1 for the season, and over his last 3 starts has pitched to a 2.14 ERA. The Red Sox never play well in Minnesota where they are now 20 games under .500 and I look for the Twins to win this one.

Plus, the Padres are 8-3 in Young's last 11 starts vs. the Rockies. The Padres are 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog of +110 to +150, 4-0 in their last 4 during game 1 of a series, and 9-1 in their last 10 games following a win. FA Cup Final:
Everton vs. Chelsea
Fellas, I am all over the under on Saturday 5-30.
Everton and Chelsea drew both games with the game at Goodison Park going 0-0. Everton has had success by bunkering in and playing stout defense behind US keeper Tim Howard. No one gives Everton a chance but I think they will keep it low. We all know Chelsea plays great defense, they aren't called the Big Blue Wall for nothing. Anelka and Drogba are scary, but they have had no success against this Everton team. Everton has no strikers of merit as they have been decimated by injury. Howard is a great keeper and beat Van Der Saar in PK's.
I'm playing the under fellas.
2** on under 2 +105 (90 minute line..total after 90 minutes is your final score, no OT or PK's)
Have a good one fellas. Tako happy belated Birthday.

GAME: Minnesota Twins @ Tampa Bay Rays May 30, 2009 4:10PM
SPORT: Major League Baseball Picks
PICK: over
Offered at: 9 5Dimes
REASON FOR PICK: 4* #920 TAMPA BAY/MINNESOTA Over
We have written about Francisco Liriano twice this week, first in cashing a 4* ticket with the Red Sox against him on Monday, and then in a TOTB column a few days later, and at this point the numbers are becoming most striking. First, the 2-6/6.42 is beginning to look like an accurate reflection of just who he is right now. But when we go a step further it looks even worse. Liriano has managed to work to a respectable 4.75 tune in all first meetings against an opponent this season, but in four “second looks†he has been tattooed to an ugly 11.77 count. It shows that once offenses actually get to see what he is throwing, instead of remembering back to the dominant pitcher he was in the past, they find that there is nothing special at all about his offerings. They particularly learn to lay off of that low and inside slider to right-handers, which usually breaks out of the strike zone, and when Liriano can not get hitters to swing at that pitch his arsenal is extremely limited. This will be the second look for the Tampa Bay lineup, which should have them poised to wait him out, and off of Monday’s drubbing by Boston (11 of the 22 batters he faced got hits), and with a 1-3/7.62 road performance so far, his confidence will be at a low ebb.
The Twins at least have a chance to win here, however, because David Price is facing some confidence issues as well. Despite being staked to a 10-0 lead at Cleveland in his first start of the season he could not even hang around long enough to qualify for a “Wâ€, lasting just 3.1 innings and laboring to 100 pitches. We have not seen many mistakes from Joe Maddon the past two seasons but that was one of them – he wanted so badly for his young left-hander to get a win that he left him in beyond the projected pitch count, and considering how badly he was faring he never should have even flirted with getting near 100 pitches. He had not worked beyond the fifth inning in any of his eight AAA starts, which produced an uninspiring 1-4/3.93 over 34.1 innings, with 18 walks. Price has great stuff, and may be special some day, but it is going to take time, and a patient Minnesota lineup will force him to bring more precision to the mound today than he may have at this point.
In a game that could see the middle relief corps in play early for both teams, there is major potential for a big inning or two.

REASON FOR PICK: PLAY ON Atlanta (Vazquez) minus on the money line vs. Arizona (Davis), Saturday at 4:10 PM EST
The Braves snapped their losing streak in a big way last night with ten runs from the offense. Atlanta is 11-6 this season against left-handed starters and the Atlanta lineup has posted significantly better numbers against southpaws this season. Arizona starter Doug Davis is 2-6 on the season and though he owns a respectable 3.77 ERA he has struggled with walks in recent games, walking nine over his past two starts, while allowing ten runs. Arizona has lost five straight Davis starts and the Diamondbacks bullpen has not been of great assistance with a 5.19 ERA. With Jon Garland being removed in the third inning last night the Arizona bullpen was worked heavily last night as well.
Atlanta was a terrible road team last season but that has changed this year with a winning record and Arizona is seven games below .500 in home games on the season. The Braves have been a slightly better team in terms of overall record and the Braves have allowed far fewer runs on the season compared to Arizona. The Braves have been playing strong ball overall in recent weeks, winning five consecutive series in May before losing a few close games in San Francisco. Against a much less stingy Arizona staff the Braves should find plenty of scoring opportunities, particularly in a favorable match-up versus a left-hander. Atlanta beat Davis and the Diamondbacks earlier this season in this same pitching match-up.
Javier Vazquez has delivered an outstanding season so far, posting 78 strikeouts and just 15 walks. Vazquez already has six quality starts and he was dominant against Arizona earlier this year. Vazquez has also pitched well on the road with a 3.16 ERA and a 3-1 record. His season WHIP is just 1.14, one of the best marks in the NL. Arizona has not been producing on offense and the key catalyst in the lineup Felipe Lopez appears to still be banged up so this is a favorable situation for Atlanta as just a slight road favorite.

Neither pitcher is in good current form and both teams have been productive at the plate enough recently to suggest we should see a game more like these teams played last night (8-7 final) rather than the one we saw Friday night (3-0 final). Both starters have high ERAs (6.92 and 9.64) and WHIPs (1.73 and 1.86) over their last 3 starts to suggest both offenses should have plenty of scoring chances in the early innings of this game and then against both bullpens in the middle frames as both starters are averaging barely 5 innings per start for the full season to date
