UFC 84 Fight picks
After terrible betting cards tonight's lineup looks like cash money to me. I'm going old school and feel good:
1.) John Koppenhaver +150
The guy has a huge heart, very good ju jit su, is very strong for his size and wins in dramatic fashion. Big fight for him as he becomes a UFC vet if he wins this one and maintains a perfect record. I think they are bringing him along slowly but he's also had some issues with the law so it will be interesting to see how the young "war machine" does tonight. I won't bet against him His fight against J Roc was one of the best in recent memory and he won with an incredible comeback. He's got a good all around game and I hope we hit this one as he's becoming a favorite of mine.
1.5 units to win 2.25 units on the War Machine John Koppenhaver
LOSS...1ST ROUND SUBMISSION STOPPAGE...INCREDIBLE FINISH BY YOSHIDA
2.) Rousimar Palhares +125
Ivan Salavarry is garbage in my book. I'll never back him again.
1 unit to win 1.25 units WIN..1'ST ROUND TKO
3.) BJ Penn -260
My second favorite fighter behind Jon Fitch. I never release this high juice but I have to have "action" on the prodigy. Sherk is a well oiled machine and if it goes 5 rounds, I can't see BJ winning this fight. BUt it's not going to go 5 rounds. BJ will either knock him out or submit him by the 3rd round. If it does go 5, lean is on Sherk.
2.6 units to win 1 unit WIN..3RD ROUND TKO
4.) TIto Ortiz +180
Machida is the heavy favorite for a very good reason. Insiders tell me that Ortiz is washed up and better hope it doesn't go to a decision. Is this the last fight on Tito's current UFC contract? Will he sign another one? Is Jenna as good in real life as in film? Two totally different fighters with different mentality's. But I think Tito is going to TKO him with ground and pound. I know Machida's ju jit su and submissions are at an elite level, but Tito has fought this kind of fighter before and his ground and pound (if he can establish it) is dominant. Machida's track record in the UFC is glittery, but no substance. TIto has been through the wars and let's not forget..his last 3 losses were to Chuck twice and Couture once..here's his record and then I list Machida's..if you follow MMA>.you tell me who has the better pedigree. We all know TIto is a conditioning freak and trains at altitude at Big Bear. If he's not distracted and he beats a UFC golden boy in Machida, he has huge leverage. I think we see the old Tito tonight. Here's their records:
