World U20 hockey semi-finals tomorrow. Two good games going off early tomorrow
Sweden vs Russia. 10 am EST
Here, I'll take Sweden +155.
For the life of me, I can't figure out why Russia is favoured. This must be a pure reputation line. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Russia is not good in the born in 1989-1991 years. These kids played Canada this summer in the Super Series and went 0-7-1 in 8 games. Sweden beat this same Canadian team in the round robin. Russia beat the Chechs in the quarter's, but that Chech team is not that good. Sweden won the much tougher group, while Russia scored 18 and allowed 14 in a pretty easy group. Sweden had a bye and are better rested.

USA vs Canada (Bookmaker has it at Can +110, USA +155, tie +345)
Canada has played great Defence this year, but haven't scored a lot. In five games, they've allowed 7 and scored 16.
USA has looked good and I picked them to beat Russia as an underdog. I can see USA upsetting Canada here.
HOWEVER, I would never advocate betting against Canada in this tournament. Our junior program is far superior to everyone else. We have won this tourney 4 years in a row and rarely lose it back to back.
So, I'm putting a little on the tie. I think +345 is great value in what I see as a very tight game. This could very well go to a shootout.
I have tomorrow off, so I'll be watching it. I'm not sure if it's broadcast in the States, but http://www.tsn.ca [tsn.ca]">www.tsn.ca has a live feed.

It seems like the whole game was played in the Russian end. They can't hold them off forever. Very undisciplined hockey by Russia. Let's go Sweden.

Sweden wins, but in OT. This would have come easy if they actually decided to play the second period.
Bet against Russia in the bronze medal match. Russia has no character and will not show for the bronze. They often get deflated after a loss.

2-2 Last night hitting Port +4 and Furman +1. Ga Southern got crushed and Tenn St didn't cover the -11.
Tonight:
NBA -- Char +5, Milw +1
NCAA -- Cal Davis -5.5, Loyola MD -5.5, Rider -4.5
Short write up for those of you who like to see the logic.... All 3 NCAA plays are much stronger at home against 3 teams that are relatively weak road teams. I don't see that reflected in these lines. You're getting home team advantage at road team lines. Of the 3, Cal Davis looks like the best bet. NBA plays: MILW/WASH -- these teams are an even match with Wash having a slightly better "D". Problem is the game is in Milwaukee where the Bucks are tough. Should be enough to put Milw over the top in this one. Char@NJ -- NJs numbers are actually better when they're on the road. Unless NJ starts playing better at home, Charlotte should be able to keep this one close -- I'll take the 5 pts.
