Pats/Steelers
-12.5??
You gotta love the spot the Steelers are in. The Pats have shown in the last two games that they are not untouchable. They left the last two games with narrow victories against mediocre opponents.
Now, we have the Steelers. I hope Palomalou and Holmes are both active this weekend. I'd hate to see the Pats get another freebie (a la Indy/Harrison).
Here's are some factors I see that have brought the Pats back down to Earth.
Weather. Although their running game is Ok, the Pats have relied heavily on the passing attack to Welker and Moss (and a side of Stallworth). The cold weather has brought a reliance on the running game. this is keeping teams closer, preventing blow-outs.
Age. Although very good, I've noticed Brusci, Vrable and Seau are not as fast as earlier in the year. I think weather and wear-down contributes to this. This is why Philly and Ravens were able to score on NE. Balt averaged 16 ppg before last night. They only scored 24, but it could have been more. For the first time in a couple of months, Balt's offence looked pretty good. Did I mention Boller looked good? Boller!
Experience. The Steelers now have two games to examine to see how to beat the Pats. I think this will help this weekend. Remember, Philly and Balt are average teams this year, and they made the Pats look average.
Like it or not (BigMessy), the writing is on the wall here. The Steelers have a very legitimate shot of winning this game and now, we get 12.5 points. I might add a half unit on the ML as well.
