Boise State football coach Chris Petersen said Monday that he has not been contacted by UCLA, and has no interest in the Pac-10 coaching position.
The Los Angeles Times reported Sunday that UCLA was firing coach Karl Dorrell, and that Petersen was at the top of athletic director Dan Guerrero's wish list. The Times reported that representatives on behalf of the UCLA athletic department have contacted Petersen.
Petersen, speaking at his regular weekly press conference on campus, said the Times report is false.
Petersen did say that one school has contacted him about a coaching position, though he declined to name the school. He said he wasn't interested in that position, either.
Dorrell was fired Monday, two days after losing to crosstown rival Southern California in a game that decided the Pac-10 berth for the Rose Bowl. Dorrell went 35-27 in five years as coach, ending with a 6-6 record this season. His last day on the job was Monday, the school said.
UCLA will play BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 22.
A national search for a new coach has started, Guerrero said
