    USC (-17.5)

    VT (48.5)

Well guys its another GREAT season of football. I know I’ve been going through some major withdraws but YES.. FOOTBALL IS BACK!! That means one thing.. HURT DA MAN!! Well let get to it. It’s the black coaches classic and this year we got the CO-champs USC vs the new acc team VT Chokies I mean hokies sorry. Last year I did well with my awesome chop stix picks of the week and they WILL return.. Ok! The Trojans come to MD as the co champs and this year they look to repeat but as THE national champions and NOT share it like they did last year. Returning is heisman hopeful Matt Leinart but what’s missing? Mike Williams. The N C double A beep beep denied him of his eligibility so he done for the year. This does hurt the offense but it doesn’t cripple them. Returning also is a great set of running backs in Reggie Bush and Hershel Dennis. What sucks Dennis is suspended so that leaves Bush and also LenDale White. They are both sophomore and did get time last year. Bush catchs the ball well from out of the backfield. Here is the biggest question. They lost both top wr in Colbert and Wiliams who wil fill those shoes? WRs Steve Smith and I heard freshman Fred Davis looks good. Smith who caught 17 passes last year is the only WR with the most playing exp and the rest of the troops have a combined 5 catches. This means Leinhart and Smith need to be on the same page.

    USC on D

USC returns one of the top D lines in the nation led by Shaun Cody and Mike Patterson. Cody moves to end this year and Patterson who had a great season last year. Cody will demand double teams and that will leave the USC DL open to go after Randall. The big question mark for USC is Corners. They lost both starting corners and replace them with some inexperienced players. Ronald Nunn and Kevin Arbet will fill those shoes. Both have played before but not much as starters. I see them being tested early. They got the skills its exp that they will need to get.

    Tech

With dumbass Vick done for the season there is no QB issues. Randall is the man and he is without a star rb behind him. Kevin Jones went to the NFL and that leaves Beamer with Imoh, Cedric Humes, and true freshman George Bell. Imoh as many know is suspended cause he’s a dumbass for hanging out with VICK. Humes is and Bell. Humes has good size and runs hard but he broke his leg in spring ball and that will hurt, he also got tiki barber issues aka fumbling. Bell is a freshman and VERY untested. Randall now being the man he has no worries about losing his job. He loses also his top target in Ernest Wilford. Randall best asset is his legs. He can scramble and that can cause problems for USC. His arm isn’t the strongest and his accuracy is shady. If he can get some HUGE plays in the passing game vs the USC corners they might stay in the game. Tech replaces all big east Jake Grove with two new starters. Its Vital the do well or Randall will be running for his life.

    Tech D

Their D is very aggressive and they put their corners one on one a lot. This could spell trouble for EVEN with Hall they still gave you plenty of deep passes and plays. Tech moves Jimmy Williams from safety to CB and with Eric Green they seem ok. Green played well during the Miami game and looked solid towards the end. Williams is the key. He is changing position and that could spell trouble, watch for him.

    Special Teams

USC- one of the nations best punters returns and also. Reggie bush is a threat returning kick offs and will most likely handle punts too.

    Tech

Beamer Ball is what they call it and Tech is one of the best in blocking punts and XP. Tech has a new kicker and with the loss of Imoh that will hurt. I still expect them to be good but not that good like previous years.

    Analysis:

Matt Leinhart has great patience. He is very smart and can pick apart teams. Without Williams is big but he can still do damage if the tech D is not up to speed. He does not get rattled that often and if you give him 5 to 6 secs in the pocket its gonna be a long day for tech. Reggie Bush imo needs to step up and he if he does well tech is in deep doo doo.

This is almost like a home game for tech for its played in MD. Not a far drive for many hokies fans. I don’t expect much from them this year as they enter a Tough ACC conference. If Randall does well they might be in it, but the big question mark is their D that was HORRIBLE last year.

Tech is known to get off to a GREAT start in the season but then choke at the end. This year they face a top team in USC and Pete Carroll will have them ready to play. I don’t see much in tech scoring.

    Some trends to savior

Vt 2-0 ats as home dogs (I don’t see them as “at homeâ€Â
