hey Ricky, I don't play on BoDog, but thanks for the offer. Thank you for keeping the site free and if you need an online, try to use one from here to help Ricky defray costs.
Sorry this post is so whacked, I couldn't post it on CBS for some reason so I'm throwing on here.
Wednesday's three and a return of the upset special play of the day.
Average play..3 units:
San Fran and Ciny over 10 Even.
Here's why...(my opinion which I'll offer this time of year with so many playoff chases). San Fran is neck and neck with San Diego for the chase of the division leading Dodgers. Throw in the Cubbies and you have a great wild card race. It's the time of year fantasy baseball owners of Barry Bonds to get very excited. He will take fewer days off, teams will be forced to pitch to him, and he'll get much more strikes. San Fran is in a must win situation when they play these "gimme" series at home. Tonight's starter for San Fran, Brett Tomko is not the kind of pitcher you want to back at -170'ish. His numbers at first glance look decent, but dig deeper. Tomko's last two starts against above average offenses, (Rockies, Padres...) he yielded 5runs in 5innings against the Pads and 6 in 6 against the Rockies. He did have two wins against the monster hitting machine that is the Arizona Dbacks. (Every pun intended) yielding 1 and 2 runs in a pair of wins. Jose Acevedo counters for the Reds and his numbers in the last month and a half have been atrocious. Check out the numbers for the month of july on Acevedo Jose is 0-4 in 6 starts in the month of July. His runs allowed and teams in those starts...
W L INN H R WkK
07/01 NYM 0 1 0 6.0 7 4 3 3
07/06 STL 0 0 0 6.0 4 2 3 6
07/11 MIL 0 0 0 5.0 6 5 2 6
07/18 STL 0 1 0 2.1 7 6 3 1
07/23 PIT 0 1 0 3.1 9 6 2 1
07/28 STL 0 1 0 4.1 9 6 5 5
Acevedo has been awful. Are you kidding me, the Pirates put up 6 on him. The Pirates??? No disrespect Rob Macko..your my boy, but that's a lot of runs for one of the NL's lowest scoring teams. The Reds and Giants both rank above average in Home Runs/Runs scored a game, and Slugging %. But here's the stat taht amazes me most...In the month of July the Giants are 11-2-1 ATS at home on the over. I might be off by one game, but San Fran and their opponents are hitting the ball much better in the hot months of NoCal. I see both teams and both pitchers knocking it around the yard tonight on the West Coast.
3 UNITS ON OVER 10 Giants Even
BEST BET:
A's/Yankees harden vs. Loaiza
Play on the OVER 9 1/2
Thoughts: Harden has been "brilliant" to quote GTNP, in his last few starts. I've been really impressed with his recent mastery of the outside corner on his heater. Check it out tonight on ESPN if he doesn't get the Bronx "yips" that so many pitchers get when they go into the Evil Empire's liar. In a nutshell, I think Loaiza is overrated and a flash in the pan similar to the Flock of Seagulls. You'll be hearing the trivia question a few years from now.."Hey, who was that 20 game winner for the White Sox that year???....Monteban, Estbean something.." No what I mean. He has a nice record this year, but the over is a moneymaking machine when he is on the mound. THrow in the fact that the Yanks are on national TV (usually a sign of big sticks) and you have a high exposure, pressure packed, two teams in the playoff chase, dog days of August heat in the Bronx. Can you say one if not both of these starting pitchers will get torched? The Athletics put up 13 on the Yanks last night. New York won't let that happen again and will be looking for some payback. Some trends for the group in this game.....
In four games between these two teams in the bronx...the average runs per game is 13.25 (53 in 4 games so far)
The over is 4-2 ATS in this series Year to date.
Oakland is 29-23 OVER for the season on the road. 5-1 OVER on the road in the last 6.
Yankees are 27-22 OVER for the season at home. 4-2 in the last 6.
Harden's 1-3 on the road this year in 10 starts with an ERA of 4.84 for the year on the road. Hardens last two road starts went over with totals of 12 @Texas and 15 @Boston.
Loaiza is 5-1 @ home this year with an ERA of 594 in 11 starts. This stat doesn't mean much, but it does show Esteban has trouble with pressure. WELCOME TO THE BRONX ESTEBAN!
I'm hoping that the Yanks bullpen is exhausted and the Oakland Bats can get to Loaiza early. There is a chance that Harden will step up to the plate and pitch a gem. But Oakland is one of the hottest teams in baseball and their sticks have been dynamite since Chavez came off the DL. Eric Byrnes and Bobby Crosby are finally making the offensive splash that was expected of them in key fill in roles this year. Mark my words..Bobby Crosby will be a hot fantasy commodity at next year's baseball drafts. Anyways, both pitchers are in a pressure cooker tonight and I can't see both of them coming through unscathed. If Boston and Texas can light up Harden at home, so can the Yanks. Throw in yesterday's drubbing, the Yanks pen having to work late, and I see a high scoring affair. Usually I'm an advocate of taking the under after posting a big number, but this game is different. Two of baseball's best offensive teams will knock it around tonight.
Over 91/2 -110 Yanks/A's for 5 units.
Small Play:
Chi W. Sox -150 ML (DO NOT BET THE RUN LINE ON THIS GAME)
Schoenweis vs. Anderson
Upset Special of the Day:
Oakland A's +130. Read above, the 9-1 in their last 10 have been swinging hot sticks. I'll take Harden over Loaiza in the national TV game pressure anyday. I'm playing this as a straight play for 2 units.
PLAY ON OAKLAND +130
Good luck and hope you hit whatever your on.
