ECU @ VT

Well, too late for me, but maybe someone else can still get a line as mine is OTB. I was leaning towards 1H, but was considering game too. So since I already did some research, here's the info in case you still have a line and were looking at it.

Everyone knows about the emotion Hokies will be playing with. Today, I heard this news about rs-soph ECU QB being pulled over for DUI. Coach Holtz hasn’t said if he will play or not, but I don’t see how you can let him play; that would send a horrible message, esp for a game that is nationally televised. Plus, homeboy was smashed blowing a 0.19. I pasted the article below.

Even if he does play, I’m not overly concerned. He saw very limited action last year, most of which came in bowl game vs USF when starter got hurt in 4Q. Plus he’ll be seeing his first (significant) action on the road in one of the toughest stadiums to play in. I just hope VT can tackle fatty (6’4” 247). Also pasted the bio below.

So if he doesn’t play, and I really can’t see them letting him play, here is what is left for QB’s:

Pickney (Jr) – only action was vs Hargrave Military Academy back in 2004……JV-style.

Clay (rs-SO) – 3rd on depth chart last year. Only saw action in 4Q vs Marshall (no stats)

McFadden (Fr)

Either way, one of these pieces of fresh meat will be making their first road start, in one of the toughest venues, vs one of the best defenses in the country. I don’t see ECU putting together any sort of drives. Maybe they get 7 on some 80 yard pass or something.

Preferred 1H with LSU up next and maybe the old backdoor, but with those QBs and losing top RB and WR, not sure ECU will score. Plus I read ECU has some injuries on the DL.

East Carolina quarterback arrested on DWI charge

GREENVILLE, N.C. — East Carolina quarterback Rob Kass was charged with driving while impaired after he was pulled over during a DWI checkpoint, police said Monday.

Kass, 20, was arrested early Saturday morning east of campus, said Maj. Kevin Smeltzer of the Greenville Police Department. Kass had a blood-alcohol content of .19 — more than twice the legal limit for driving, Smeltzer said.

Kass is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 13, according to the state court system Web site.

Coach Skip Holtz declined to comment Monday on Kass during his first weekly news conference of the season, and it was unclear if Kass will play Saturday in the Pirates' season opener at Virginia Tech.

"At this point I'm not ready to address it publicly," Holtz said. "Right now I'm going to handle it within this football team until I have the opportunity to address and talk to everybody that I have to talk to."

Kass, a sophomore from Longwood, Fla., was expected to replace the graduated James Pinkney at quarterback after strong performances in the spring and in preseason camp. He played in five games last season as Pinkney's backup, completing 14-of-30 passes for 184 yards.

Here is Kass bio from 2006. In bowl game, he got in during the 4Q when the starter got hurt (ECU down 24-7).
