MagPipes at +1000 is tempting..though I think a lefty is gonna win. Heard Holliday is the last entry for the N.L. Does Baby Cecil have the stamina?

Here are some takes -
1 ---
First off, scratch Rios (not enough power) and Ordonez (overweight). Next, toss out Howard (who will try to hard to win) and Pujols (struggling right now). That leaves Morneau, wild card, Guerrero and Fielder.
2 ---
History was the last thing on Justin Monreau's mind when he became the first Twins player since Tony Oliva in 1973 to hit three home runs in a game.
No, instead Morneau was concerned about whether he had used up all of his homers before taking part in his first Home Run Derby contest.
"To me, it's almost as cool as the game, and you just don't want to put up a zero," Morneau said with a laugh. "But maybe I'm just getting warmed up."
The Twins first baseman is on pace for his first ever 40-plus home run season. His three dinger game on Friday night, along with a solo homer Morneau hit on Sunday, helped him to finish the first half with 24 homers. It's the most he's ever hit before break.
In '06, Morneau belted 34 homers, with 23 coming in the first half, en route to earning the AL Most Valuable Player Award.
Being that it's Morneau's first All-Star Game, it will be his first appearance in the Derby. But that doesn't mean that the first baseman has no experience in such events.
"I've been a part of them since I was little," Morneau said. "I've been a part of Little League home run derbies and then some in high school and even in the Minor Leagues a few times."
3 ---
Most of the attention is being focused on a couple of left-handed swinging first basemen, Philadelphia’s Ryan Howard and Milwaukee’s Prince Fielder. A third lefty swinger, Twins first baseman Justin Morneau, is also attracting attention.
Like the river behind the Pirates’ backyard last year, we’ve got water in play this time as McCovey Cove resides just beyond the right field wall at AT&T Park in San Francisco. And that’s why the left-handed hitters are being talked up now as, theoretically, at least, they should stand the best chances of sending balls into the water.
Some of the prop bets at The Greek included head-to-head matchups between Howard, Fielder and Morneau as to just which one will park the most balls into McCovey Cove. Howard (-155) is the favorite over Morneau (+125), and the favorite (-125) over Fielder (-105). Cecil’s little boy is priced at -150 against Morneau (+120).
My money’s on one of the fat guys, Howard or Fielder, to take it, and not just because they’re likely to send the most balls into the bay.
For Howard, this will be his moment to shine since he’s not in the actual game on Tuesday night. It’s going to be tough to defend his title, but he does have Ramon Henderson on his side. Who’s Ramon Henderson, you ask?
Henderson has been the BP pitcher for the last two home run champs, Howard a year ago and Bobby Abreu when he was with the Phillies and captured the 2005 derby at the game in Detroit.
"That man can groove," Phillies bullpen catcher Mick Billmeyer said in a recent interview. Billmeyer is no stranger to the event having thrown to then-Phillies first baseman Jim Thome in the 2004 event that took place in Houston. "(Henderson) throws a high floater and his speed is the same. He's the best I've ever seen."
Fielder, being the young pup, could upset Howard’s title defense. If he can find his own groove early on and not wear his offensive lineman physique out in the first round, he the Brewers’ young slugger should present a challenge.
One concern about the Home Run Derby is the weather at AT&T Park. Winds generally blow in from the bay this time of year, but the latest weather reports forecast west winds tonight in the 10-20 MPH range. That means balls will be blowing out to center field, if they are true west winds. And that could result in the flotilla of kayakers and boaters being busy retrieving their soggy souvenirs.

Well, I was really looking at the lefties as that has been the talk - But, I am not so sure now.
Just how much of an adsvantage will the LHers have?
Dimensions: 339-L, 364-LC, 399-C, 421-RC, 309-R

Here is a take on righties ---
http://www.sportsmemo.com/handicappers/er/articles/1181/ [sportsmemo.com]">http://www.sportsmemo.com/handicappers/ [sportsmemo.com] ... cles/1181/
The dimensions for AT&T are 339-feet down the left-field line; while 309 down the right-field line however keep in mind, the wall in right field is 25-feet high, while just 8-feet in left.
Crucial in this contest could be the power alleys. The left-field power alley is just 364-feet, while the right-center alley is a cruel 421-feet away from home plate. I believe this will give a ‘boost’ to the right-handed hitters. In fact, left-handed hitter and Colorado Rockies first baseman said he would never want to play in AT&T Park everyday. In addition, for all the criticism Barry Bonds takes, it’s rarely noted just how challenging it is to consistently hit home runs in his home park.
