NBA Picks for Thurs, June 7
When the line (8) came out for Game 1, I was thinking, huh? And the line went to 7.5 right away. But by the time this game is over, the hometown boys won't know what hit them. Therefore, I'm rolling with:
SAN ANTONIO -7.5 (business as usual for the Spurs tonight; this is a whole new level for the Cavs, and I believe the Spurs will show them what Finals basketball is all about)

NBA FINALS GAME 1:
Why do you guys think the Spurs are easy? here's the facts.
The Cavs had a better defensive PPG allowed.
The Cavs are playing the Pistons again..this time they are wearing the black and silver. You can't tell me the Pistons and Spurs are very similar. Predicated on defense and playing team ball.
The Cavs proved they can win against this formula. I called the Cavs series and again, no one is giving them any respect. Forget about nerves and it being the championship. Great players do great things and tonight LeBron will carry the Cavs for the 1H until the rest of the team is getting in rhythm. Trust me, I'm not hyping LeBron and I don't think he's the best player in the game..but this is a great matchup for the Cavs. They will do very well IF and it's a big IF, they are coached well. To beat the Spurs you have to slash and distribute or make one on one plays to draw the double team. Tonight, LeBron is going to do that in the 1H and ironically, I see Big Z as the key to this game. No way Elson can come out and guard the big fella 20 feet out. Well, Big Z has the sweetest oustide shot I've seen for a big man in a long time. He's not Amare or Shawn, but the Lithuanian can shoot.
I can't roll with you fellas. There are some big powers at work. The NBA finals with their new poster boy LeBron, the marketing powers and revenue that are dying for a 6 or 7 game series.
I'm tellin ya, the Cavs are gonna give it a nice run. (AND YES, I HAVE THEM BOOKED FOR 2 UNITS @+455 for the series). I really do believe one of two things will happen tonight..The Spurs will absolutely dominate them or the Cavs will easily cover and possibly win. This game will not hover around the ATS number.
Anyways, I'm proud of callling the Cavs over the Pistons. I used part of my winnings on that mofo and rolled it into the Finals. If UTAH can keep it close in Games at the AlamoDome, imagine what a team like Cleveland can do IF they don't get out coached and LeBron can carry the 1st half.
Good luck, but I'm on the Cavs tonight
ROLL WITH ME ON CLEVELAND +7 1/2
Opinion is on the over. If you think the Cavs win, they will have to beat the Spurs defense. But I'm on Cleveland and small hook up on Cleveland and over.
Good luck boys...man I can't wait. This is going to be a much better series than the preditions I'm hearing.
CAVS IN 6...and I will be one happy mofo.

PC,
Although it would be exciting for me to see the Cavs win it all, I actually hope they lose this series (and they will). You may ask why? Well, if they win, can anyone really see them doing much in the offseason? Probably not, because why should they if they just won it all. On the other hand, when they don't win, they will be hungrier. I'll take three or four championships down the road as opposed to just one now. And they will win a few rings as long as they have Lebron, make some moves (not sure what yet), and get a real coach!
It looks like we might have that exciting battle like last year's Suns-Clippers series. I totally disagree with you on this series, and totally disagreed with your Game 1 write-up (just read the posts now). But some different views and opinions is what makes this so interesting. Sometimes we need a little controversy to get some more peeps involved. Let us rumble the rest of the way! I need some excitement because I have been awful this postseason! I always enjoy reading your write-ups, and I'm sure you will respond to this. You have been solid, as usual in the postseason, so I'm curious to see where you go for Game 2.
And to everyone else, get in here and post! It's the NBA Finals! Let's see it!
I have no play on the series, but I forgot to mention that my prediction is:
Spurs in 6
