In order of races -
Wood 4:45 EDT
Cowtown Cat is out of the Wood and will race the Illinois Derby, thus
only 6 colts in the Wood.
Pretty easy to separate the field from contenders to pretenders.
Do note that post positons do NOT match program numbers in this race.
My Ranking -
#2 Nobiz Like Shobiz (7-5)
#1 Any Given Saturday (8-5)
#5 Summer Doldrums (5-1)
Should be a great race between the top 2 with chalk odds and a very low
paying EXACTA.
Nobiz has gone 1-1/8 twice and Saturday has gone 1-1/16 four times.
Pretty safe to say these two will be 1-2 at the finish - Our job would be to
pick which way - A very difficult task. The one with the best trip is
probably the winner.
With only six horses in the field, they both should have decent trips, so a
1-2 finish is a virtual LOCK.
With Nobiz at post position 1 and Saturday at 5, maybe the edge should
go to Nobiz as a shorter trip is very likely.
My play --- 2-1 Exacta STR

Okay - Pletcher moves Cotown Cat to this race, which could mess up an
easy cap. Actually, the colt does at 5-2 odds does not bother me as
much as the trainer. This entry may be a blessing as it will draw public
money and give better odds to my top two or he may ruin the play.
I will play the two Grandsons of AP Indy with trainers McPeek and O'Neil,
sorry Pletcher --- #2 Bold Start & #5 Cobalt Blue. Blue is the better of
the two so ....
My Play --- 5-2 Exacta STR (10 units) & 2-5 Exacta STR (4 units)

How can you not like Pletchers two horses -Sam P & King of the Roxy?
I honestly hate the way Pletcher trains horses - Circulay Quay was
suppose to run the Wood and now is on 7 Week lay-off vacation til the
Derby - WTF. There is something about King of the Roxy that I dont like -
maybe its the fact that he has raced once since November and it was at
7-1/2 F. Damn you Pletcher - I need more data to cap these races.
I'm tossing out Roxy - low odds - low raced.
That leaves #2 Sam P - #3 Bwana Bull - #5 Liquidity
These three are fairly even and I like the #5 alot has he has raced at SA
this year and did well with a 102 Beyer at 1-1/8. Not sure what happened
to Liquidity in the LA Derby.

I think the 8 has a chance, and i like the 9/10 as longshots.
I could see placing a small tricard on the 2-3 / 2-3 / 8-9-10
ARGGHH - sometimes you read too much into it.. really liked the two longshots Tiago and Medici Code, should have played both.... till next time
