I agree..the Stardust was a great place. Vegas is slowly moving forward check out whats happening soon
1) New Frontier to be demolished very soon
2) Sahara just sold and to be to be re themed (we know what that means)
3) Aladdin currently to be renamed Planet Hollywood
4) Tropicana sold and going under a major project which will include tearing down most of the original property.
5) The Riveria is accepting bids currently and should find a new owner in the next 12 mths
Ballys most likely to be imploded and made into the new Horseshoe brand casino from Harrahs
6) Harrahs just completed a sale of 24 acres next to the old stardust for Barbary Coast (small hotel next to flamingo)
Which gives Harrahs the largest connected tracts on the strip (Harrahs, Imperial Palace, Flamingo, Barbary Coast a.k.a Bills Gamblin Hall and Ballys.. can you say monopoly?
I follow most all of the major events in Vegas and am a hugh Vegas history buff.
More and more revenue streams are coming from hotel rooms, shows and clubs. This newer Vegas visitor wants the nicer place and to see the shows and clubs while maybe dropping 200 on gambling. We are seeing a shifting of values and the older resorts unable to meet what the 2007 Vegas tourist is looking for!
What a shame!
There is alot of history there..but not for long.
