2-2 on BE Tourney plays on wednesday, but good for 2.75 units. Thursday of the BE Tourney is one of the more exciting days on the NY sports scene, and I'll be at the Garden to be a part of it.
Here are my initial thoughts:
Nova vs. Gtown
Classic matchup of old school BE teams. Nova showed today that they are a force to be reckon with. Scottie Reynolds played a littel erratically, but also put up 29 points. Meanwhile Sumpter was a beast. I'm looking for more of the same against Georgetown. Spread looks like it will open at 5.5, in which case I'm leaning toward taking Nova. I think they could win this game outright.
Syracuse vs. Notre Dame
Tough for me to cap this one since I went to ND and would love to see them make a run in the BE (for once!!). But I'm just not sure it's giong to happen. First of all, as I pointed out yesterday, I think they had a weak BE schedule and are fortunate to have gotten the 4 seed. They went into the carrier dome and opened up a 19 point haltime lead after hitting 10 3s in the first half alone. Well, they wound up winning by 12 and as usual, gave up their fare share of points (91). While the Over would look tempting at around 150, I like Syracuse here getting a point. This kills me to write but I don't think ND can hang with them a second time around. Ideally, I would have loved for the spread to be +5 and have ND win but not cover, but oh well. Will do some more research in the morning but this might be my highest play of the day. Nichols will just be too much.
Don't have time to look into the night games and might lay off them completely since I'll be wasted by then. But at first glance, I think both Louisville and Pitt move on. Of course, if WVU shoots like they did tonight, no one can beat them. But I'll take my chances.
GL to all...
