NCAA Picks for Tuesday, January 23rd
Greetings All!
I am posting this now because I will be traveling tomorrow...
1 Big 10 play for today...
Indiana (+1) at Illinois, 4pm
Indiana (14-4, 9-6 ATS, 5-5 ATS@home, 4-1 ATS Away)
Illinois (14-7, 3-13 ATS, 2-9 ATS@home, 1-4 ATS Away)
Indiana is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games, 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games against Illinois...
...last game a win on the road at UConn 77-73
Illinois is 1-8 ATS in their last 8 games, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games...
...last game a loss at home to Wisconsin 71-64
There is no love loss between these two schools...goes back to the Bobby Knight/Lou Hensen days...and with Kelvim Sampson getting a recruit that had verballed to Illinois...this has just propogated the rivalry...unfortunately for Illinois the game has to be played on the court and Illinois will come up short in this one...Illinois continues to not cover the spread and I will continue to ride this horse until I get thrown off...
Good Luck on All of your Plays!

[b]Boston College Eagles -2.5
I do not respect Florida State on the road. They have always been a tough out at home, but I see BC putting a hurt on them tonight. BC will be hungry after losing big this weekend.
Stats to support:
FSU is 1-4 ATS as a dog this year, and 1-4 ATS on the road.
BC is 8-4 ATS as a favorite, and 6-3 ATS in home games.
I see a nice game for Dudley, Rice and the freshman Spears, filling in for dismissed Williams.

NCAA Game of the day (1-0) + 1 unit
Villanova +1
This game looks like a gimme, it may be too good to be true but i'm still all over it. Villanova is playing great ball after a disapointing start to the season. There offense is clicking and there coming off two good wins. Providence is a consistant team this year and thats what I like, they are consistantly just okay. I like that this game is on the road and Providence has some good wins, it will help avoid the let down game some may predict in this spot. I'm gonna ride the hot hand tonight and throw out Villanova +1.

Damn Louisville shot 20% in the first half and didnt get things going. If they had just played reasonably well in the 1H we would have hit the over. On to tonight.
My BE plays are now 5-7. After a strong start (3-0), i've fallen victim to some poor plays on my behalf. That said, I'll continue to post and who knows, maybe if you all fade me you can make some money. I'm stubborn as they come and I will not stop going against SJU. I also refuse to believe the Irish can't win big on the road. My play for tonight:
Notre Dame -5 (bought the hook).
ND has the shooters to get the job done here. THe Johnnies are playing well lately but deep down - they SUCK. The Irish are in desperate need for a nice road win. They will get in tonight at the garden by DD.
Side note, ND expelled their starting point guard who had been suspended indefinitely. Not sure what impact this will have on the team but if anything, I think it gives them closure on the issue and they go out and get the big win. The guy hasn't played since December so it's not like they haven't been playing without him.
GL to all.
BE Record: 5-7

I'm sure your aware of this but I wanted to bring it to your attention in case you didn't. BC has lost their stud starter down low and their 6'th man for gambling allegations. The team is clearly not the same and more investigations are forthcoming. Line should be much higher but I think we saw last weekend how badly BC has fallen with the recent scandal at the Catholic U>
Good luck, they still might cover but I'm looking to play the under in that game if my numbers are right$$$
From AP wire reports:
Boston College dismisses Williams, McLain from team
Jan. 17, 2007
BOSTON (AP) -Boston College center Sean Williams and forward Akida McLain, both suspended earlier this season, have been dismissed permanently from the program because of an unspecified violation of team rules, the school said Wednesday night.
In a statement, coach Al Skinner and athletic director Gene DeFilippo refused to comment on the players' specific conduct.
School spokesman Christopher Cameron declined to comment further, but said the dismissals do not affect the players' scholarships or academic standing at the school.
Williams was suspended for the first two games of the season for an unspecified violation of team rules; McLain for nine.
The 6-foot-10 Williams, third among shot blockers in the NCAA, started 15 games this season, averaging 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per game. The junior had 19 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks in an 84-66 loss at No. 6 Kansas on Dec. 23.
The 6-8 McLain averaged 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in two games. The junior missed six games because of an ankle injury.
Boston College (13-4, 5-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) plays at No. 19 Clemson on Saturday. The Eagles have won their last six games.
Williams, a Houston native who played his senior year at Mansfield H.S. in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, was suspended from the Boston College team for about seven months in May 2005 after a campus arrest for marijuana possession.
To resolve the case, Williams spent 90 days in a Houston drug rehabilitation program run by former NBA star John Lucas. He also was warned that he would be randomly drug-tested for the rest of his time at Boston College.
McLain is from Pittsburgh.
Calls to two phone listings under Sean Williams in Boston and near the Boston College campus were not immediately returned. Several other listings were unpublished. There was no phone listing for McLain.

I hate to do this to Southern, but I like BC too. Haven't seen Spears, but his numbers look good. Dudley is a stud and Rice (Richmond, VA) is playing great. They need to get on track after suspensions and better start at home.
BC -3
