NCAA Picks for Saturday Jan 6'th

All right, I'm doing this Friday night because I am playing golf tomorrow morning and then watching the two wild card games with some buddies at the bar.
I think Saturday's card is trick. Look at some of the trap games..Oregon getting 2 at home against UCLA......Duke only laying 10 against V tech at home, Illinois only getting 1 1/2 against Ohio State and manchild Oden....
I think the Valley has some trap lines as well, I'm staying away from Creighton +4 @ Drake.

Missouri Valley: Roll with me on Indiana State + 5 1/2. Thy Sycamores are quietly one of the better stories in college hoops so far. They have a very nice 9-4 record with a strong RPI. In the Valley, the home team usually wins this game with the home team having covered 3 out of the last 4. I just think this year's Indy State team is different. They have leadership they have lacked in the past as evidenced by their ability to come back. They won us money earlier in the year on two posts and I think this is another spot to back them. Illinois state seems to be going the other way after a nice start to the season. Let's not forget the Sycamores have beaten Butler, Purdue, and Creighton and won their last 4.
I'm on Indy State +5 1/2 but I expect them to win the game.
The spread is high on Illinois state because they have a nice SU record and are 6-1 ats at home and trends support an Illinois State cover. I have already booked this..but take a look at the lines and see if they move in your favor. I have a feeling the public will continue to bet against this small school Midwest school.

Big XII: Roll with me on Texas -8. Put simply, Colorado is garbage this year and Texas's young team shows signs of coming together. On paper, the athletes all wear burnt orange, the shooters wear Burnt orange, and the coaching advantage definetely goes to Barnes. One thing I like about Texas teams under Barnes is their free throw shooting. I have won games like this time and time again because a team can finish at the line in the last 2 minutes of a game. I think it will be a nail biter as a cover, but I like Texas by 12...

My Saturday college basketball play...
Ohio State (12-2, 7-5 ATS, 6-3 ATS @home, 1-2 ATS Away)
Illinois (12-4, 4-7 ATS, 2-4 ATS @home, 2-3 ATS Away)
Ohio State is coming off a hard fought win at home against Indiana, while Illinois is coming off a lackluster performance (and loss) at Michigan.
Also, Illinois has had only one decent win so far this season at a neutral site in St Louis against Missouri (by 3). All other reasonable competition have been losses (Maryland at home by 6, at Arizona by 12, and at Xavier by 6)
Ohio State's only two losses come on the road at North Carolina and at Florida, both much stronger competition than the Illini will offer.
I will go with Ohio State (-1) to win (and cover) in the tough venue at Illinois...this may be a trap...but, I don't think so...good luck to all!

Rough stretch lately, think I lost about 4 in a row.
Rice/Princeton U111.5
Under 7-1 last 8 Princeton non-conf games
Under 8-2 last 10 Rice non-conf games
Last year at Rice, Owls won 52-41.
Wright State +15.5
WS has been playing better lately (won 6 of last 7, only loss at LSU). I think it's too many points in a conference match-up when WS has won 6 of the past 7 meetings (and covered all of them).

FYI!!!
So far in the Big 10 this year the Home team is 5-0 !!
I think the trend will continue today. Illinois is a tough venue. They have the depth and size to neutralize Oden, who, by the way is nowhere near 100%. I see this game being very similar to the Florida-OSU game a couple of weeks ago, except a lot closer because Illinois does not have the back court talent that Florida has. It's very tough to win on the road in the Big 10, especially this early in the season. I'm going with:
Illinois +1
also...
on that same trend, I'm going with Northwestern +2.
I do think the trend will continue in both the Purdue-Penn St and the Minn.-Wisc. games. But, the lines seem to be too big! So, I will do a small parlay!

My last play of the day:
ROLL WITH ME ON SIU/UNI 1H under 53.
Again we put our faith in the Salukis to go under the 1H number. You should see it today with the top 2 defenses statistically in the Valley. Only thing that scares me is that it seems way too easy. We've been covering 1H unders all year on SIU and other valley teams. Now you give us the top 2 defensive teams in this spot and it's still at 53. I really expected the first 40 something total this year.
anyways..let's give it a shot..small bet for me on SIU 1H under 53.
