NFL DRAFT.
What a nice little tease job in the latter part of April. Juat what we needed to remind us that the NFL season is nearing. As to NO ONE'S surprise, the Detroit Lions are heading in the right direction, and what impressed me the mostis that, they took GOOD players with SPEED !!!!!! SPEED !!!!!!
Big Ben falls to 11th b/c of the Rivers/Manning saga !!!! I dont know how most feel but I think Manning was the best QB on the board. The guy started learning pass routes at the age of 12. His father and his brother has never failed, so why would some say they he will ? Rivers is just a frickin assassin, as Techster1 once said. Dont give that guy an inch, he will PICK YOU APART, and yes his style would best suit him for the NFL immediately !! He scrambles and and I have seen BIG D lineman bounce off this guy. Both still have a lot to learn.
Fitzgerald to the Cardinals, hmmm. If any indication came from the Tire Bowl, Larry will have to adjust the most. Playing against a Zone with Over/Under coverage (not cover2) he was pretty much a non factor. He will see a lot of that in the NFL. Still he creates things that most WR dont. The guy has stick'em built into his hands.
Just a few notes from what I seen. All in All I think the Lions where the clear cut favorite. Dallas got a good RB in Julius Jones, and again this guy is tough as nails. So is the other Jones, Greg to Jacksonville.
The weakest draft came from the Chiefs in my opinion. They could have gotten a good cover corner in the 2nd (Ware,Poole) and elected to draft a TE. NICE !!!!!! Tony must have a basketball deal that he is finally going to jump on. I guess the Chiefs thought the Corners did a splendid job against the Colts, and they must feel they lost the game b/c of the TE play. They are returning 21/22 starters.
Sleeper pick of the draft >> Pick #108, RD 4, NY Jets, Jerricho Cotchery WR, NC St. This guy is another Torry Holt, but never got the credit b/c of ticky tac injuries, that he played threw. This guy was at his best against the BEST. Poor Fla St. BURNT hard and often !!!!! Hands are awesome, route running needs some work, but that is what the PRO's are for. He has good speed, but plays better in the competition, better know as football field speed. Keep an eye on him.
Hall of Fame game. Aug 9th, Denver Broncos vs Washington Redskins. A winner has already been declared. A little over 3 months and we can set back and watch the warriors of the grid-iron get it on !!!!!!!!
Good Luck to All $$$$$$$$$$$$
