PeterTrojan.......Does your pick have anything to do with your name? As an 'Sc alum I am rooting for them, but as a bettor I will have a hard time laying 7.5 points. I really want to but I believe that is too many points in this game. I do, however, think that it will be a low scoring game..Hint..hint... Should be a great game

We hit on KC easily yesterday..here's two more games I think are easy covers.
PLAY ON COLORADO +13 to the bank. newman is absolutely right and I always play the dog in this series. A Gotpicks member who played for the Mighty huskers will tell you this is way too many points for this heated rivalry. Throw the records out the window..CU just might win straight up. Isn't that right Turmaniator$$$$$
This game is very intense and CU's defense is good again this year. I like CU to make the easy cover.
PLAY ON OREGON STATE -3...Don't believe the hype. The Beavers will dominate this game at home today. Trend wise, I'll back OSU all day.

didn't know there are so many Trojans on the board... I'm currently attending USC myself and the USC ND game will be my last home game as a student. It's been incredible to say the least =P
anyway, USC line up to -8.5 in some places. Pretty difficult game to call. USC and Notre Dame both rolling as of late. However, Notre dame hasn't really beaten anyone this year. Lost to Michigan, barely escaping michigan state and ucla, and destroying a lot of academies. There is a huge revenge factor though after last year's game. Good luck to whatever you play! ~ I would lean -7, but not sure if i'd go up to 8.5...

also, if you are going to point out how ND barely escaped MSU and UCLA, you can go on about USC looking very suspect against immensely inferior teams also (Wash st, Wash, AZ St and the fact that they were getting blown out by OSU before actually losing that game as Double Digit favs).
since this is a board of information, it's only fair to be balanced with the info...
both teams definitely have some glaring weakness. i wouldnt just point out one side without pointing out the other.
having said that, even though im not touching this game, if i had to pick a side, i would side with Petey's D easily.
Quinn gets rattled very easy (see MICH game and the 1st H of G Tech and PSU games). if you're able to throw on points after that and leave ND's "O" 1 dimensional, fuhgetaboutit...
the problem with the GT and PSU games was that their "O" wasn't able to put on any points in order to create that desperate feeling; maximizing the pressure.
also, USC giant WR's should have a field day vs ND horrible 2ndary.
BUT, i think the UC has the correct play with that U implication.
personally, i wouldnt mind USC winning by 1 point so that MICH remains #2 and gets a rematch. as much as people would hate to see a rematch (if they arent fans of the respective schools) its only fair to allow the top 2 teams duke it out since its clearly obvious that MICH is the #2 team...

Chanos is a little mexican food place that's really popular around here and the 9-0 is a club/bar that's in the area (not a very good bar/club tho in my opinion)
Back to the game of the day:
i didnt mean to leave out that USC barely escaped many games and also took a loss to a pretty mediocre oregon state team. One major difference however between USC and ND's season is that USC has beaten Arkansas, Nebraska, and Cal where as Notre Dame has beaten... mmm you tell me.
My point is actually that it's very hard to compare these teams and thus hard to make a pick on the spread. I'm not really sure how good Brady Quinn and that Notre Dame offense is. And i'm still suspect on the USC defense even tho it has been very impressive the past couple of weeks. It should be fun tho. FIGHT ON =)

The 9-0..when I was there...was the place to be!!!! Granted that was almost 13 years ago...I did not realize how old I am getting...There was also a bar that accepted your meal card. Traditions it was called!!! Is that still there???
To the game...
Who has ND beaten this year?
Can their secondary stop #8 and #2?
The combined record of Usc's non conf oppon. is 28-5
USC has played some lackluster football but still controls its own destiny to Glendale.
ND has a so so chance of geting there but Quinn is playing for Heisman
In the Carroll era, USC does not lose at home
No doubt in my mind that Weiss has his team prepared and will not let his team get demolished like in 4 of the past 5 games in this rivalry.
MY TAKE.....
USC 28 ND 24
SC has the better players and they are at home. Does anyone realize how good they will be next year?
FYI should SC get to Glendale..I think they will be destroyed.

Congrats to ALL Ohio U, LSU and La. Tech backers yesterday. A nice sweep heading into the weekend. Have 3 more on the menu for today. 1 early one, 1 mid-day tilt and 1 late action matchup.
12:00 noon
Virginia @ Va. Tech
Yep, you guys knew it was coming I'm sure. This is my first post this year involving the Cavaliers. The way I see it, no better time than now. The Hokies opened at 18 in some books, now down to 16 with the hook. 2 pretty good defenses involved in this tilt with the Cavs battling for a bowl spot with a victory. Blacksburg hasn't been the kindest to the Cavs, but Virginia has won BIG games SU in Blacksburg. Tech offense has dropped a few notches compared to previous years, but the Defense still has the Lunch pail which could spell trouble for the mighty young Cavaliers ( 7th youngest in nation ). 68% of the athletes from both teams come from Tidewater area with the bulk of the talent going to the Tech squad. Look for a very conservative output by the Hokies as they are dead seeded, cannot move up or down in the standings, while the Cavs are looking to extend their season. In my opinion, the Cavs do not have the talent to pull this game off, but I don't think the Hokies have the power to drill the Cavs back to Charlottesville. Special Teams will play a role and look for about a 10-13 point victory for the Hokies. My Play
Virginia Cavaliers + 16 1/2 ***** AVERAGE *****
3:00pm
SMU @ RICE
Lined opened at 4 1/2 in favor of the Owls, now it's a 1 point spread in favor of the Pony Express. Public still DRILLING the Owls while the Mustangs have put together a decent little squad and are now bowl eligible. Owls playing good ball with a weak schedule, but Mustangs pose the speed factor. I just don't like the line in this game and if Rice was so much better ( 5 straight wins ) SMU would not be a fav in this contest. My Play >>>
SMU - 1 ******** SUB-PAR ********
7:45pm ESPN
Wake Forest @ Maryland * Above avg - maybe Diamond Cutter status *
Write-up and selection coming
ACC leans only, no plays >>>
Duke + 7 ( happens every year )
S.Car + 5 ( Clemson just dont have that pop )
Florida - 9 ( Finally the end of the season for the Noles )
E. Carolina ( This is a tough game, but will roll with the Pirates )
Good Luck and bet wisely !!

TEX A&M - 22 ( TOP PLAYS 6-2 )
Texas A&M (4-0) is off to a fast start due mainly to its defense, which is giving up 50.3 points per game and allowing opponents to shoot just 28.3 percent from the field. Texas A&M has won 26 straight regular-season non-conference games at Reed Arena since an 82-80 defeat to A&M-Corpus Christi on Dec. 13, 2003. The Aggies are 37-5 at home under Gillispie. This will be the fifth straight road game for Idaho State (1-3).
Good luck.

Alot of SC fans on this board. As an ND grad, this has been the toughest rivalry weekend for me to cap. Before Weis got here, you are right, this was the easiest money out there. WIllingham had no idea how to coach. But Weis proved last year that ND will now compete. Sorry UM/OSU fans, but this is a bigger rivalry in College Football. And ND doesn't settle for moral victories. Brady Quinn will go down as the most prolific quarterback in ND history.....BUT- his legacy will be nothing if he goes 0-4 career agaisnt USC.
My betting mind tells me that yes, USC wins and maybe even easily. But don't underestimate motivation and emotion in CFB.
I will most likely just make a small play on the Irish MoneyLine for shits and giggles but whatever you do, don't cap this game simply by looking at the stats. Throw them out the window. And lets hope for a good one.
(by the way, quinn does not get startled. he is playing behind an incohesive Offensive Line and is under more pressure than any other quarterback on a team in the top 15. he's been sacked twice as many times as troy smith, but has still been able to do his job. two of his interceptions against UM were deflections off of an Irish player who should have caught the ball. don't let the stat line mislead you. don't worry, they still handed us our ass. just pointing out some facts)
GO IRISH!

thanks- i owe you some entertainment in return.
that was almost as funny as the "ND doesnt play for moral victories" one. last yr's loss to USC was pretty much lobbied by ND fans to count as much as a victory...

Hey Fellas,
I didn't see a Saturday thread under the NBA forum, so I will post them here.
For those not following it, the system is 3-1 this week and 18-8 YTD. How the games are determined can be found under the NBA threa back-to-back system post.
There are nine freakin games tonight.
PLAY ON ATL +7 @ ORL
PLAY ON DET +2.5 @ WAS
PLAY ON MIA +3 @ CHAR
PLAY ON PHI +7 @ CLE
PLAY ON NO +10 @ DAL
PLAY ON POR +7 @ SAC
PLAY ON CHI -2 @ NY
PLAY ON LAC -3 @ MIN
PLAY ON UTA -1.5 @ GS
I want to make a point that I am watching the three plays where we are taking the favorite as those situations are 0-3 of the 18-8 YTD
Use this information as you will and GLTA,
