V Tech +5 (-130) ( i would invest a Unit on 3 or more and .5 on the ML)
to put it simple- the Pub gets their ass handed to them here. popular perception is that Clemson rolls their opponents all the time. that isnt really the case.
here is what you need to know...
* everything you hear/read is to go big on Clemson. Clemson is a lock, Clemson should crush, etc.
meanwhile, the line was set (-4 to -4.5) for heavy action on Clemson knowing the pub was already going to pound them. then, couple that with these publications to go big on Clemson, and i would already come to the conclusion that i have at least a 57% chance of hitting the right side without capping any further.
i still see 90% on Clemson and the line has moved .5...
* V Tech at home and on a thursday? fuhgetaboutit.
* the perception is that Clemson dominates their opponents but they are 0-2 ATS in their conference as a road fav (losing one of those games outright)
* James Davis is going to play this game with a bruised shoulder. not good for a bruising RB. (they do have probably the best RS Freshman in back up RB CJ Spiller, a 5 star recruit last yr.)
* All World Gaurd, Roman Fry, is out for the yr. He was a finalist for the Outland trophy. this is a KEY injury. the timing of the injury makes it KEY, it just happened in the beginning of the GT game. so, 1 game and 4-5 days of practice later...new fish.
when i go to cap injuries, i actually look for the quite, under the radar, injuries that will have major impact in the game without much attention. losing a gaurd, to me, is more significant than losing a starting RB, in most cases. (look at Miami Dolphins being on their 4th G recently- too easy)
a- the line gets adjusted to an Ahman Green being out for the game (not so much for a G, C, RT - unless they have a huge name)
b- a back up RB like Herron steps up anyways because it is natural instinct for a RB to run and a Wr to catch the ball. but, the timing for the OL can be thrown off now against a Blitz happy defence.
* Clemson just came of a huge win that threw them in the Top 10 for the 1st time in a long time. that is a nice emotional high, just to travel to Blacksburg in a short 4 days.
* ST- Beemer is the best in the Bizz and, when the line is set where 1 play can dictate a W or L, i feel better being on Beemers side.
the Crowd should be off the charts for this game...im sure of it.
if Proctor needs to throw if they cant establish the run, i like my chances even more...
you can EASILY always find trends to support any play you want to pimp. so, to me, trends are only really good when they have, at least, an indirect correlation to each other...
VATCH are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 Thu. games.
Hokies are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games as a home underdog.
Hokies are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Hokies are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games in October
Tigers are 2-7-2 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite of 3.5-10.0.
Tigers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games as a road favorite.
anyways, if that doesnt work, i can always just use a nice system to back up my 'feel" for the game...

Nice write-up! I like it! I actually considered playing VT here (you know me, love home doggies), but something tells me to stay away! That line seems fishy; looks like they are trying to get us to play VT here! GL! For some reason, I think the Tigers take this one by 7 or more, but my cash won't be on this one!

ROCKMAN'S GAME OF THE WEEK!!
Let's take a good look at this game before we decide on a side. First of all, Clemson beat GT easily and lost to BC only by 1 in OT due to a missed PAT. On the other hand, VT got man handled by BC and GT loosing 22-3 and 38-27, respectively. The play looks so obvious to the general betting public. Clemson should roll VT or should they?
Did VT really get rolled or did they beat themselves? Lets look. In both games VT turned the ball over twice and accumulated numerous penalties to kill drives and momentum in each game. The numbers showed that VT actually outplayed GT by 56 yards and fell behind 21-0 in Q1 before they knew it. That changed their entire game plan and played into the hands of GT. In the other game, VT was outplayed by BC but by only 83 yards. The score was a bit misleading as well.
Let's look at Clemson on the road. They are 0-2 as a RF this year going 1-1 SU. They rallied in Q4 by scoring 24 points to beat WF by 10. Let me tell you something, VT is not WF. Clemson are a dismal 2-9 ATS / 5-6 SU as a RF last 5 years.
VT, on the other hand, is 5-1 ATS as a dog last 4 years and this is the first time this year VT has been installed as a dog. VT is 0-2 in ACC play this year and that alone places a tremendous amount of pressure on VT to play their damn best game against Clemson.
The strength of schedule favors VT big time. VT has played the 12th most difficult schedule while Clemson played the 88th. Quite a difference here in my opinion.
VT is an amazing 12-1 SU on ESPN Thursday night games while Clemson is only 1-6 SU. Did you know that the line opened Clemson -6.5 and the sharps bought it down to -4.5 before most books posted it to the general betting public. And, guess what? The public just ate it up to the tune of 80% and yet the line remains relatively stable around -4 to -5. The books will never move it to -6.
Looking at the numbers, I know it's difficult to place your hard earned money on VT +4.5 tomorrow night. But, I honestly believe a very motivated and eager bunch in Blacksburg will bring their A game & play their hearts out to gain the respect of their fans as well as the nationally televised audience. It is Thursday night on ESPN and the Hokies are dogs for the first time this year. My money will be on the Hokies!!

I am undecided as of right now...there are some questions I need to answer before I can pull the trigger... VaTech is talking about rotating in QB's...I see their reasoning but is this going to be effective??? Will this hurt them?? Why not stick to your starting QB?? Are they doubting themselves??? Clemson on the other hand may be without their running back and if he does play, can he run people over like he normally does?? How bad will the running guard suffer without their guard?? ALso, when we talk about "obvious" winners, who is the obvious winner here??? Is it Clemson who is rolling or is it VaTech, with home field and a superb Thursday night record.....
Goddamnit, what a game this is going to be....The info has been great guys...I will try and answer these questions for myself and post my plays...I am looking at -5 right now with a -3 first half line.

Here’s the way the game boils down for me…
I could post some stats that would make the case for Clemson, but for me this game will come down to the running game for both teams. If the Tigers can run the ball as expected with Davis (he will play) and Spiller - VT will be in for a long night. Davis may not be 100%, but Spiller has shown that he’s going to be a big time back. Even as a freshman he’s being compared to Reggie Bush. Clemson has been able to run consistently against good defenses – no reason not to think they can’t do it tonight.
On the other side, how is VT who only managed 75 rushing yards total in losses to GT and BC going to run the ball against the Tigers who give up just 72 y/g on the ground? Sure Tech's o-line had its best game last week helping Tech rush for nearly 300 yds but, that was against S. Miss. VT needs to run the ball effectively to sustain drives otherwise they’re defense with tire and Clemson will run wild.
It's your $$$, bet what you like.

One play today
For some reason I felt better about this play yesterday, but the main change (in my opinion) between today and yesterday is that each bullpen got an extra day off. This will help the Tigers because Zumaya threw 24 pitches in Game 3 and I don't think he would have been available last night. To a less extent the same goes for Rodney. If they play for a few innings and there is a rain delay, this will come into play.

You know, it feels like I just saw this the other night on MNF....Dallas and their Monday night record, They are at home, last buch vs NYG on Mondays, Dallas D shutting down the run......etc etc etc
We know what happened there....Clemson is the 10th ranked team in the country and they have been rolling rolling rolling....I cannot go against this team, not here and not now. I believe that looking to go with two different QB's is a crystal clear showing of the lack of confidence that VaTech has in winning this game. Even if Clemson's runnning back is out, his back-up should be ready and able to run all over VaTechs "D". I am not buying into the "Thursday Night" record of VaTech just as I didn't buy into Dallas' monday night record.....
CLEMSON will continue thier streak as they roll through VaTech and roll over the Hokies tonight!!!!

That was probably the worst coached game by Clemson...No doubt VaTech played well...But what the fuck, how many times can you run for nothing....how about passing to open up the running game...It fucking works both ways....Either way, I lost. I am happy that you guys won and I apologize for going against so many of you
