UFC 63

The hackers knocked out our last posts, but let's get it started on UFC 63.

In a deleted post, I talked about the huge fight of the year implications between BJ Penn and Matt Hughes. The line has been pretty steady with Hughes a slight favorite in UFC terms at -210 to -165ish. I have avidly been following both fighters training and will have some great info on who to take in this ultimate grudge match.

A little history...

BJ Penn is part of the bad ass Hawaiian contingent that includes Cabbage Correjia and TUF season winner Kendall "The Spyda" Grove. The usual rule of thumb is this in MMA...if your fighting a Hawaiian, your not gonna knock him out. They also have very good mui tai and striking skills. In fact, Grove and BJ Penn are world champions in abudabi and Pancreas competitions. BJ Penn is one of my favorite fighters of all time because of his flair for the dramatic. He moved up in weight at short notice to give Matt Hughes his only loss in the UFC. He then pulled a Riddick Bowe and basically dumped his title in the trash can and went on to fight in other forums. Hughes has been impatiently waiting to get a shot at the only man I've ever seen submit him. If your a die hard MMA fan or know the scene on the West Coast..you know the Hawaiians are tough as nails, crazy about this sport, and win more than they lose. BJ Penn has come out and said that he's not going to overtrain for this fight. Last time he did aganst St. Pierre, he said the fight was anti climactic. What does this mean? I at first took it as a sure fire sign to lay my money on Hughes NOW before the line shoots up..but I waited because Penn is so damn unpredictable and I hadn't followed up on Hughes yet.

Following the champ and being a huge fan, I've told myself to never EVER bet against Matt Hughes. Then I go ahead and take a washed up Gracie who gets beat down badly by Hughes. So now, as I seriously deliberate going against Hughes again, I remind myself of the Royce Gracie debacle. I've watched the Hughes/Penn fight about 15 times in the last 2 months. (UFC.tv. has a wonderful download that is cheap..great for capping and seeing old fights.)I've also been watching Matt's fights since then. Here's the kicker...no one has challenged Hughes in over a year..his hardest fights are probably happpening as we speak in the Quad Cities as he trains. So here's my betting question...can The Prodigy BJ Penn shock the UFC world yet again and take down the champ? Will Matt Hughes be "ready" for a world class opponent? His last 4 fights have been a joke and this is his first true test in over a year in a half. I'll have a complete fight post and Title fight prediction. But if your just getting into the UFC< you couldn't have asked for a better pay per view headliner. That's all I got, back with fight picks the Friday before the pay per view. In addition, I'll post the full odds when I see them.

UFC 61: -4.9 units

UFC 62: +10 units

Overall UFC title fight records:

4-2 ATS +21.2 units

Overall UFC unit total:

+23.9 units

Let's roll fellas..after sweeping UFC 62 and seeing the undercard for UFC 63...we are going to make some serious cash.

Oh yeah Ricky, I talked to Dana White, he send he would lend ya a few goons to take care of the hackers!!!

I am one excited mofo..there are 4 great fights on this card and the heavy favorites are also knock out kings. Anyways...here is what I recommend if you bet on Saturday night...I'm going to post opinion on each fight and my card at the bottom. Since UFC 59..I've only had one losing card for you. If you want, try my unit system with whatever your comfortable playing..if you play these picks I would be shocked if you don't come out ahead...anyways..let's get on to it..

    ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP 63 -

    ARROWHEAD POND, ANAHEIM , C

AFIGHTERS MUST FIGHT FOR ACTION - $1000 LIMITS -

    UFC WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

    BJ Penn +170

    Matt Hughes -200

Wow..my two favorite fighters of all time. I'm a huge fan of Hughes because of his work ethic, brutal wrestling, constantly evolving. BJ is the king of the dramatic and this is his surreal moment. I've watched and studied as much as I can. The champ is fighting for revenge and his first serious test in awhile. BJ is coming back after a loss against GSP...I think this card is a coin flip and the pub heavy on Hughes after all the recent beat downs. With that being said, I keep reminding myself of laying on Gracie and watching Hughes pummel. For the first time since posting I will not bet on the headline fight.

    OPINION>: HUGHES by submission.

    NO ACTION for me.

    David Loiseau +115

    Mike Swick -135

I'm all over this dog. 2 units for me on the crow David Loiseau from Canada. His last fight was a headline loss where he was dominated by Rich "Ace" Franklin. The American Fighter absolutely destroyed Loiseau..not only is he hungry, but Swick doesn't have the pedigree to win this fight. This will be a very tough fight for him. The linesmakers put it as close to even as possible and I respect them for that. This is a very hard fight to cap as both are brutal strikers that can end it via strikes from the fists (Swick) or elbows and knees from Loiseau. I like the record and the inching further of another title shot.

OPINION: David Loiseau by KO in the 2nd round.

    ACTION: 2 units @ +115

    Jason Lambert +180

    Rashad Evans -210

This is where I start preaching my system. Great value in the dog. Rashad has been tough, but Lambert is no slouch. Don't believe the T.V. hype as America catches on with the TUF show. I'm old school and will take the vets anytime. (Like I did with David above). Rashad has looked great, but Lambert matches up beautfilly with him.

    OPINION: Lambert by KO

ACTION: 1 unit on Jason Lambert +180

    Joe Lauzens +525

    Jens Pulver -650

The return of little evil. Way too much juice for me too bet in a fight. (I like finding the dogs..you barkin still with me Grim Reaper..Bernard Hopkins$$) But Little Evil is gonna dominate in his first fight back in the UFC. If you followed WWF back in the day..Joe Lauzens is WWF's version of Barry O..the dude who got beat up every Sunday morning by the flavor of the week in that horse crap "wrestling."

    Gabe Reudigar +145

    Melvin Guillard -165

Again, here we go with a TUF fighter. This is my best bet and a dog play. I'll take the former WEC title holder Gabe Reudigar and his ground game over the impressively cut, but lacking substance Guillard. I am really convinced from what I know of MMA outside of the UFC to say that Gabe should be favored.

OPINION: Reudigar (I'm callin my shot) by rear naked choke in the 1'st.

ACTION: BEST BET: Gabe Reudigar +145 for 3 units

    Roger Huerta -575

    Jason Dent +450

    Don't know much about Dent.

    No opinion no Action

    Danny Abbadi +575

    Jorge Gurgel -725

Danny was portrayed as a pussy by Tito and the TUF fighters. here's his shot to prove he's not a puss. Well, I gotta roll Jorge, "The soul assassin" Danny Abbadi had no fight in him against Herman. Now he's healthy. Don't bet this fight, if anything, take the heavy dog for a small amount. enough of a reason to not play the favorite or the dog.

    David Lee +460

    Tyson Griffin -585

here's some value. Again I'll take the dog. Not many know either fighter, but DL is a nice play at 460ish. I would have taken him at +200ish. Griffin is a monster in the octagon but if you get to see this fight, I think David Lee is gonna surprise a lot of people who think they see an easy winner in Griffin.

Opinion: Lee by submission in the 2nd.

1/2 unit on David Lee +460

I'm out fellas. I'm gonna stick to UFC, MLB post season, and hoops for the rest of the year. I'll have a football play here and there (MY ONLY PLAY THIS WEEKEND IS THE NEW ORLEAN SAINTS +4 1/2). but will post in my strong suits.

Good luck on this card..I can not wait for Penn/Hughes. Let me know if you ride and win or lose...enjoy the show.

Hey boys...Like your card PC (although I liked Swick but will not touch it!)

I spoke to my buddy who gave the HUGE Tim SLyvia under dog win over the pit bull....He tells me that Hughes is at the top of his game....Penn beat him earlier in his career and he hasn't forget it....He says Hughes has far more experience now and WILL beat Bj Penn!!!

Again, PC knows his shit...I watch but cannot cap these fights. But this guy knows his shit and made anyone who followed big dough on Sylvia....I am with him again and will roll on MATT HUGHES!!!!

PC...football treated me well today so I will propbably follow ur card...(I am not sure about thr Swick fight...I will take him or lay off!!!

    GOOD LUCK BOYS!!!!

Messy, I do like Hughes to win but I won't bet it. I have too much faith in BJ penn..should be an incredible but if I had an opinion, I like Hughes as posted. GL BRO...I will be rooting for BJ, but expect Hughes to win.

GL..I agree on the swick fight..that is tough to call. But look at the fighter's experience and history..this is by far the hardest fight of Swick's career. Coming off a loss to Franklin, DL is right there. I expect him to win this one.

Have a good one, I'll be in the chat when the fights are on. I

My worst UFC post ever. Apologize and we'll get it back on the next one. Take care players. Bad, bad, results for me. Swick and Guillard's victory cost me some jack.

See ya for the next one.
