HARTFORD SERVICE INTER-CONFERENCE GAME OF THE YEAR Portland-Boston

HARTFORD SERVICE

Their Inter-Conference Game of the Year is on Portland to snap a two-game skid and earn its fourth win and cover in its last five meetings with Boston with the victory at the Fleet Center tonight. Although the Celtics have won three in a row, they point out those victories came against injury-riddled and depleted New Jersey (twice) and Philadelphia squads. And in the two games prior, they note Boston got blasted by 16 points in road losses at San Antonio and Dallas, two quality, healthy teams. Finally, they feel the Celtics can't match the Trail Blazers' inside game with Theo Ratliff anchoring the middle.

Their other top-rated triple play is on Minnesota minus the number against a Seattle team that lost its second in a row, following a seven-game winning streak, last night at Denver. And with the Sonics playing on back-to-back nights, and coming off a game in Denver's physically-draining high altitude, they feel backing the T'Wolves is the way to go.

Their final selection is a double play on Utah to hand New Orleans its fourth loss in a row overall, and its 10th straight on the road since February 17. They note the short-handed Hornets, who got drilled 107-88 by the Lakers last night at the Staples Center, are still minus Baron Davis and Jamal Mashburn, their top two scorers. And they add Davis scored 23 in the season's first meeting, a home win by the Hornets.

PORTLAND SERVICE GAME & TOTAL OF THE MONTH

PORTLAND SERVICE

Their 7* Game of the Month is on Miami, winners of 11 of its last 13 straight-up (9-3-1 ATS), minus the points at Atlanta against a Hawks' team coming off a draining double-overtime home loss to Memphis last night. They add the Heat are on series' runs of 5-1 Su and 7-1 ATS versus Atlanta, with each of the last five victories coming by nine points or more.

Their 7* Total of the Month is on Golden State-Toronto to stay under the total. They point out the Warriors, who are coming off a horendous shooting performance in last night's blowout loss at Philly, have stayed under the total in eight straight and 16 of their last 18 outings.

Their 5* play is on Portland, 3-1 Su and Ats in its last four meetings with Boston.

NBA Play/Wednesday..........

A very nice day yesterday here on the ole forum winning our NBA Play on the Lakers, our Hockey Play on the Blues and going 5-0 on NBA Halftime games........

Sonics/Wolves over 188

The Sonics have shown the ability to score points over the last 3 games with totals of 119, 108 and 102.....However, they have shown the ability to give up a few points too losing the last 2 and allowing 124, and 115 in those contests. We exppect pretty much the same exercise tonight....We are so excited about the upcoming baeball season that we are just about to pee in our pants........With Jim, it is probably all of that beer.........Baseball is our very best sport and the first 90 days are always the best.....
