NBA BACK-TO-BACK SYSTEM

I always heard a lot of people talk about how tough it is for NBA teams to play in back-to-back (B2B)games. Therefore I started tracking how well teams perform in these situations. Overall teams only cover about 41% of the time in B2B's, but there are about 24 of these situations a week. This is far too many games to bet each week. When you look closer, teams that play B2B's away then home only cover about 35% of the time and there are about 7 of these per week on average. These are the games that will make up the system I will use. In reviewing the first 12 weeks of the NBA season, only 2 weeks lost money and the system is up 20.3 units for the year.

Units based on $100

W L Units

Week 1 6 5 50

Week 2 1 1 -10

Week 3 7 1 590

Week 4 5 4 60

Week 5 3 2 80

Week 6 7 1 590

Week 7 5 1 390

Week 8 1 0 100

Week 9 1 3 -230

Week 10 5 4 60

Week 11 4 2 180

Week 12 5 3 170

TOTAL 50 27 2030

Here are the the rest of the B2B's games for the rest of the season where a team is Away then Home. Remember we are always playing against the home team and usually getting points.

Thanks for the INFO. I viewed your post in the daily picks the other night, but didn't listen and went against the system. Another loss for me.

I was wondering if you were going to keep your message updated with the weekly % and units.

PC - That's some funny shit! Guys trying to boost their ego and be glory grabbers by taking others' ideas. Doesn't matter to me as long as the system keeps working.

Thanks for pointing it out - made me laugh!

    Hey Fellas,

The NBA B2B system was only around .500 down the stretch, but still turned a profit of +16.8 units for the season (almost 6 months). The final record was 96-72 (57%). If I get some time, I will research these results and see if I can alter the criteria some to produce a higher winning percentage.

    Hey Fellas,

I spent last night reviewing the 2005-2006 NBA results and found my final results for the B2B system were a little off. It finished the season with a record of 98-67-5 (59%) for +24.3 units. Now that's not bad, but only averages you about plus one unit per week for the course of the season.

Upon further review, the system looks to be most effective for the first 3 months of the season. This makes sense as the players are now used to the grinding travel and focus better on second game of the back to back at home. The results for the system thru the end of January were 60-25-2(71%) for +32.5 units.

I also looked at both teams being on back to back's as opposed to just one of the teams and the numbers were similar.

So the bottom line is PLAY AGAINST TEAMS that were on the road then home in back to back days. I will review the schedule and identify all the games that fit for the first three months.

    GLTA,

There are exactly 101 plays that fit the system of playing against a HOME team after they were on the ROAD the previous day. Lets hope for that 70% hit rate again this year. Please let me know if you find any errors in the selections I found.

    Good luck!

ToD, after you first posted this last year I tracked as well. Only one year of data, but here are some of the trends I found (some overlap). Records before and after AS Break.

    Play on Road Team if:

    Line is P to –3.5…….. 13-4 / 12-2 = 25-6

    Line is P to –5.5 and the Home Team LOST the day before……. 13-1 / 10-3 = 23-4

    Line is +5 to +7…….. 17-6 / 5-5 = 22-11

Same as above but Home Team WON the day before……. 8-1 / 1-1 = 9-2

There’s a few more random ones but these are the main ones. We’ll see what happens this season.

And for tonight, I’m pretty anal about those numbers, so if LAC gets to +5 at my offshore, I’ll jump on. Right now at 4.5.

    Hey Fellas,

Much better in week 2 as the system went 4-0 or some people may have got a push on WASH @ ORL, but I had +3.5 so I will count it as a win.

    8-6 YTD (+1.4 units)

    Hey Fellas,

How about 7-1 for week 3 ? The system is now 15-7 YTD (+7.3 units)

    Week 1: 4-6

    Week 2: 4-0

    Week 3: 7-1

15 plays coming up in week #4; lets hope the success continues!

    Hey Fellas,

There was a mistake on the list of B2B's for this week showing a play today: 11/24/2006 L.A. Lakers @ UTA

Obvioulsy this can't be with no games yesterday. I apologize for listing this one and there is only 14 plays this week, with 9 coming up on Saturday. The picks are 3-1 this week and 18-8 YTD.

    Hey Fellas,

Very rough night Saturday with those 9 plays going 3-6, however rebounded with a win tonight and ended the week 7-7. The system is now 22-14 YTD (+6.6 units)

    Week 1: 4-6

    Week 2: 4-0

    Week 3: 7-1

    Week 4: 7-7

Week 5 is more reasonable with 7 plays coming up.

What do you consider an acceptable % profit wise for playing this system for the year? If I remember right, it was on fire to open the year, went about 61% during the middle, and faded pretty bad around 40% during the end. I do appreciate you posting this system and I look at games and this system to see if they match, but I just don't see a huge return on this investment of playing the same unit amount over the course of a year.

And for those of you who think I'm bashing TOD I'm not. I respect him immensely (how can you not when you look the "Professional" cappers in the face after their Stardust radio show and tell them their picks are garbage$$) and have met him personally and know his fantasy acumen is solid. I just am not sold on this system and know that TOD plays it.

So..is it a moneymaker or just a return on a yearly system investment? I just don't see the value right now...but since you have followed it I know you made some cash. Just wondering when and if it's worth to hop on this at some point.

    Hey Chris,

Thanks for the kind words. You are correct in that the system performed much better in the first half of the year versus the 2nd.

Last year, the 1st half was 60-25-2 around 70%; the 2nd half was 38-32-3 around 48%; overall ended up around 59%. This year my logic was to just play the system the first 13 weeks of the year thru the end of January (about 100 plays), with the expectations of hitting 70% making us 30-35 units for 3 months. Thinking players get used to all the back-to-backs their focus is better during the 2nd half of the year.

Thru the first three week we were close to that pace, however after this 7-7 week #4 we are hitting only 61% (22-14). However without getting too complicated there are a few tweaks I have noticed that could increase winning percentage and reduce the number of plays.

    Tweak #1 - Teeks Data

Reviewing the data that Teeks posted relegated to last year - simplified to just eliminate playing our road teams when they are in the range of (+5 to +7); these were only 22-11 last year and are only 3-7 this year.

    Tweak #2 - No Favs

Of the 36 plays there has been 7 times where the road team was favored and they have gone only 2-5. So if we eliminate these plays as well it would make things better.

The revised system would be 17-2 (+14.8 units @ 89%) Granted this is revisionist history making the stats look the way you want them too, but pretty impressive anyway!

So bottom line, either play the system plays using these revised tweaks or at the very least keep this in mind while capping the games yourself.

By the way - those guys picks were garbage.....lmao
