Bowl GOY: Penn State
I would expect a good amount of services on both sides considering PSU is getting 70% of the money. The money has been comig off PSU for the last 5 days. IMO if it dips in to the 60% range PSU rolls!

TIP OF THE DAY
Sport: National Basketball Assoc.
Game: Orlando Magic @ Detroit Pistons on Jan 3 2006 7:30PM
Prediction: Under
Current Line: -11.5 -106
Over/Under: 188.5 -106
Reason: The last six meetings in this series have played over the total,
but I believe that trend changes on Tuesday night.
The Pistons are well rested coming into this game having not played
since Saturday afternoon in Cleveland. After three straight poor
defensive showings, I expect a strong effort on Tuesday. The Magic have
certainly struggled offensively on the road this season, averaging just
over 85 ppg on 42% shooting. They haven't played on the road since back
on Dec. 16th at Dallas so don't be surprised if they're slow out of the
gate.
The under is 4-2 in Detroit's last six home contests. It's only a matter
of time before their 9-4 home o/u mark starts to even out. While Flip
Saunders has allowed his team to open it up offensively, he would like
to see them get back to playing the defense they're capable of. A
matchup with the Magic should be a good starting point. Take the under.-

10* on Penn State -10 -102
Penn State scored 35.2 points per game in the the Big 10 while giving up just 16.5. The Nittany lions are the most well rounded team on both sides of the ball with the exception of Texas. In all reality Virginia Tech should be playing Penn State in this game but the Seminoles pulled out a 27-22 win over the Hokies which says something about their character after losing their previous 3 games. But Penn State has way too much talent on both sides of the ball and are a more disciplined team than Bowden's Seminoles. Penn State really wins the QB battle with Robinson, which will be huge in this game. Robinson can use his legs as well as his arm to beat you and we've all seen the success of running QB's thus far this Bowl season. They are hard to prepare for because so much of what they do is improvisation. Take Penn State!

***Our Pick***
Take Penn State Nittany Lions -9.5
Norm Hitzges
This one's played in Miami giving the Seminoles an in-state advantage. FSU got here stunning Virginia Tech in the ACC title game. Prior to that, FSU had staggered to three consecutive defeats causing almost everyone to believe the 'Noles wouldn't be in a "Big Bowl" for the first time in forever.
But here's Bobby Bowden back in a big game. he's an extraordinary 18-7-1 SU in 26 bowl games. That's a significant figure when you realize FSU's a large dog here.
How often is it though, that Bobby B's the less celebrated coach in a bowl game. But that's the case here as BB tangles with the legendary Joe Pa. Penn State's the "feel good story" of the year in college bowls. Paterno brings a 15-7 SU record in bowls into this one.
PSU's a whisper away from the national title game losing only to Michigan and that on a Wolverine TD on a play that began with :01 on the clock.
PSU's the better club and by far the more balanced offensive club. They figure to out-gain FSU on the ground by a substantial margin. They have out rushed all their opponents this season. And when FSU's out rushed by an over .750 team they're a dreadful 8-30ATS!
Penn State's season long consistency wins out for me. That upset of VaTech was nice. But this PSU team is solidly better.

Vegas Experts Tip Of The Day

Florida State at Penn State
Tuesday, January 3, 8:00 P.M. EST
Staunch run defenses on both sides should turn this into a defensive battle. FSU struggled on offense down the stretch, tallying 15, 14 and 7 points before getting 27 in the ACC Championship Game vs. Virginia Tech. Penn State held 6 of its last 7 opponents to 22 points or less with 4 of them being held to 15 or less. Florida State is 29-14 Under away playing against a team with a winning record, and Penn State is 8-1 Under versus teams allowing <=3.25 rushing yards per carry.

CFB - 8:00 ET - Orange Bowl
Penn St. vs Florida St.
FLORIDA STATE
First of all, we would like to say that it is a travesty that Florida State earned the automatic BCS bid here with an 8-4 record, while the far more deserving Oregon Ducks were left out in the cold. That being said, now that the Seminoles ARE here they are a very dangerous team at this big price vs. a team that has struggled offensively vs. good defenses. Yes Penn State has good offensive numbers on paper, averaging 35.2 points and 424.3 yards per game. However, a look at the Nittany Lions schedule shows that all of their best performances came vs. the weak defenses of the Big Ten, and that their two lowest point outputs came vs. arguably the only two good defenses they faced all year (Ohio State, Michigan). Well, this Florida State defense is allowing just 302.4 total yards per game, and it is equally stingy vs. the run (105.9 yards on just 2.9 yards per carry) and the pass (196.5 yards per game). In fact, while Penn State has the reputation of having one of the best defenses in the country, the Lions are actually allowing four more yards per game (306.5) than the Noles. Offensively, Florida State is averaging 29.4 points per game and we do feel that it is capable of scoring more than enough point here to take this game down to the wire. Finally, do not forget that Big Ten favorites were a dismal 2-11, 15.4% ATS over the last four Bowl seasons.
