Reason: Perhaps a more appropriate name would be The BiG 28 Championship instead of the BIG 12 because that’s what’s really is at stake for most, a 28 point spread.
When these teams met on 10/15 I listed Texas as a Best Bet in route to a cover win. Envision a completely different scenario here where QB Vince Young won’t need to pile on points or Heisman votes to achieve the Longhorns goal.
Colorado is blessed to even be playing this game after being blown out by Nebraska last week. They can’t feel confident especially Buffaloes QB Joel Klatt who’s mysteriously regressed over the last month.
The presiding judgment is based on both teams overlooked strength on DEFENSE. Texas especially has a better defense than given credit for while the offense has made the glory headlines.
Making a case here for UNDER THE TOAL in weighing an inflated Over/Under number. Texas is 10-1 toward the Over this year, a key stat driving the price way up by kickoff. Also factor in a semi-neutral Houston field and a Texas team simply needing to win, not score 50 points to move into the BCS championship game.
Play on UNDER for Texas/Colorado.
