NHL ICE PICKS FOR 3-4-04

back down to reality last night with a 2-1 record.....loss on Ottawa (boys gonna be skating hard today in practice), wins with OTT/BUF Over 5.5 and Vancouver (+0.5) ended in a tie so half goal was handy.....lost on the DDD, both games NASH got smoked and MON was in it just always 1 step behind...

so our record stands at 5-3 for the week...1-1 on DDD

okay i think we have the NHL picks for tonight.....

EDM (+0.5 -110)

couple things here, looks like newly aquired Nedved is gonna suit up tonight.....while this doesn't move mountains, he is in the upper echelon of players with talent....he comes from the Rangers where they were out of the playoffs to a team that needs to win about 75% of their remaining games just to be considered for post season...

have said that...EDM has been winning and scoring (avg 3.8 goals/game) and STL hasn't (1.2 gpg)....so we add Nedved in the mix, he helps create scoring chances.

we like the half goal here because STL is desperate, their playoff chances are slipping away at a fast clip, they are 5-15 ATS in their last 20...ouch...so just in case this one ends in a tie tonight, we have the half goal for the money.

BOS (-0.5 -180)

looks like newly aquired blueliner Gonchar is gonna put on the black and yellow tonight....defenceman with scoring punch like a forward....just what the doctor ordered for the ailing bruins...these boys came close in toronto with a 3-2 loss....they have to stop the bleeding and there is no better bandaid then a Rangers team who have dumped equivelant to half the total budget of Tobago in the last 2 days....they are taking a "new direction"...maybe its gonna be okay (next year) but Boston needs to solidify its playoff position....tonights the night they get back on track

EDM/STL Over 5 -110

not to much to say other than....

Over is 6-1 in EDM's last seven overall.

Over is 4-0 in EDM's last four on the road.

Over is 6-2 in STL's last eight at home.

2 games played between these two this season has 8 and 10 goals being scored in those games.

STL has been scoring better at home and we expect 4 or 5 goals out of EDM tonight to keep track with our EDM win above...EDM has scored 5, 4, 7 goals respectively in their last 3 games....everythinng points to the OVER.

no DailyDoubleDog.....i really think the Isles are gonna upset Toronto tonight....im actually gonna play a small ML wager on them but when i post the DDD its with the intent of winning... while the Isles play as a single is a good risk/reward bet....i dont believe adding another game to that bet is wise....just gonna let hang all by itself as a small play.
