Plays on dogs +1.5 Run Line

Just trying to get opinions on taking underdogs +1.5 runs. I dont really see the point in them because they're not good odds at all in my opinion, but have seen people make plays on them.

For example, if the ML on a dog is +175, the +1.5 RL on the dog would be somewhere around -125. Laying $125 to win $100 on a dog just for the sake of losing by 1 run??? Wouldn't you want to just take the chance on the dog on the ML at +175? I, like Herman Edwards, like TO PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!! If the dog wins straight up, it seems you would be kicking yourself for taking the runs.

Any input would be appreciated, as I just cant see the point in ever making a play on a team +1.5 runs. It just makes no sense to me.
