Gulfstream Park - Palm Beach Stakes (G3)
By BYRON KING
1. KITTEN'S JOY 2. COMMENDATION 3. PA PA DA
KITTEN'S JOY is perfect in three starts on turf. He keeps improving, and is well drawn on the fence with Bailey. COMMENDATION is better than his recent form suggests. Two of his last three races have come on dirt - which is not his best surface. He won a stakes at Keeneland in October. PA PA DA has run well in every start - aside from a dusting from Read the Footnotes in the Remsen. He has a win and third in two races on grass.

Kitten's Joy
The rail, perfect record on the turf, Bailey in the irons and the trainer is winning at a 37 percent clip here; you could say this one has a chance; overcome wide paths to win his last pair and may need only to avoid inside jam up in order to continue the streak.
Commendation
Did not have a smooth trip when losing to Kitten's Joy 2 back and was bet down to 7 to 2 that day; fine try in his most recent effort, a washed out affair, and he should secure good rallying position today.
Prince Arch
Stayed within close range in a slow-paced allowance score recently but the final furlong was completed in quality time; will likely have to deal with much swifter internal fractions today though and that may prove too much to ask.
Tap Day
Prayed for rainfall last time and benefitted with a resounding score at true odds; main track only entrant has breezed well thereafter and is an obvious fear if this one is transferred; 2 back ran into Read the Footnotes, one of the top Derby prospects.
Pincay
Glad to see he finally won considering he was named after a racing legend; has shown strong finishing kick but this still seems like a major escalation; a speed duel seems a necesssity.
Tales of Glory
Was caught up in a quick pace at Delta and faded; fine allowance score at Aqueduct the time before and has a superior breeding for an off track should there be a washout; steady work tab for a top trainer.
Soverign Honor
Set solid fractions in the Tropical Park Derby before succumbing to Kittens Joy; might be able to get away with a slower tempo here and latest works at Calder headquarters are strong; very game to hold on 2 back in a limit field.
Mustanfar
His dam was zero for 5 lifetime but 2 of her 5 foals to start have won (141k) including blacktype winner Tradris; was originally meant for the turf but makes his grass debut; trainer continues to win at excellent rate at various east coast tracks; must respect.
West Virginia
Talented New York bred survived a gruelling strectch challenge in his last score; can handle various footing and his dam was 1 for 7 (20k) but 4 of her 5 offspring have won (296k), no particular turf success though; interesting item regardless of the course condition today.
Master William
After failing as a maiden, he was curiously put in a quarter million dollar afffair and got the money at a nice price; no fire at all thereafter on the main at Churchill Downs but note the latest breeze over this sod was professional; can certainly be factored into your plans.
America America
Only 1 for a dozen on the green but did not lose by much 2 back, her last turf assignment; has met the boys quite often and with success as well; suggest using the exotics if the odds are double digits.
Pa Pa Da
A fine try from post 12 in an allowance race that featured slow fractions; should be a lot tighter for today's contest and has breezed reasonably well; possible even from dreadful post.
Gin Rummy Champ
Perfect thus far on the turf and now he gets the true test; unlikely to get clear from this beginning point, however, and might be better off waiting for a softer spot; difficult call.
Gold Shield
Has found a new home since switching to the turf but has been absent since late last year; moderate work tab for the return; has shown no ability at all to rate, the major drawback.
Paper Man
Interesting possibility since he chased a rapid pace in his latest before retreating; bullet breeze on the turf recently; dam was 3 of 17 (202k) and she was second in the G3 Miesque on the green at Santa Anita; both of her foals to start have won but noblack type and no turf victories.
Inducement
Was bet down to favoritism in his debut but encountered a very troubled beginning; gets the blinkers now but is spotting way too much experience; cannot recommend even if he somehow escapes the AE list; wait for another day.
